*** IMAGE ALBUM ADDED 30-SEPTEMBER-2012 ***

Hi,

The MFT has been great, pretty much the center of my shop, but I've always wanted more table space to the right for cut-offs. Been using a RIDGID stand up to now.
All the parts were scrap or in my shop from past project lefovers.
I built it mainly for the extension, but the sliding stop has come in handy a few times.
The stop reaches over the fence and is independent of it to allow the right side extension fence to be aligned with the main MFT fence, and the extension fence has oversize holes to do this.
The diagonal brace makes the extension very rigid, and it has a fine adjust to level it to the main MFT top.

Thanks for looking,

Pete

Pete,
Great looking rig!
I like the Idea of cutting on the opposite side of the rail. I would like to setup two MFT's similar, to your method.
PS.  Anything good to eat in the fridge there?  ;)

Very good design Pete!  I might copy it.  I have the extension that is sold by Festool (http://www.festoolusa.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=489575&ID=9), but your extension looks to be more useful.

Very neat, I like the fine adjuster. Given the ability to fine adjust, I might get round to doing something similar, but mounting a cheapo plastic incra positioner.

Pete,
Excellent!  Like you, the MFT is at the center of my shop, and I can't count how many times I wish I had a convenient way to get a usable extension on it.  Your concept looks terrific, and has that elegance I'm always looking for with my jigs.

Thanks for posting it!

Matthew

Very nice...what kind of fasteners are you using to connect the extension (and your organizers on the other side) to the MFT? Looks like they sit flush with the wood?

Thanks!

Doug,

They are STAFAST type BB joint connector bolts in 1/4-20 thread with a t-nut by 8020 inc.

Pete,
I kinda had an idea to do the same thing because I couldn't see paying over a hundred bucks for Festool's extension.  Yours is a lot nicer than I invisioned mine being.  I like the stop, great idea.

Pete,
I merged the two discussions you created so Part 1 and Part 2 are connected.  Otherwise, as people post responses, the two might drift apart.

Thanks Matthew! I guess I should have just replied to my first post to create part 2.
:)

Thanks for all the kind words, guys.

Frank, as soon as I get some time I'm going to build an 'under MFT' cabinet modeled after your great cabinet. Excellent use of space.

My wife must think I'm crazy working on something like this, but all of you understand just how much upgrades like this increase efficiency.

Excuse me did you say there is a woodworking show in Nevada?who's going ?                                                    Dan

I think I am going to make something similar, just don't like the festool one so much also.  Great job on your, I am going to make 2 additions when I make one.

- insert a track to lock a stop to instead of the one on the side.
- make it fold down on a hindge so I don't have to take it on and off.

Both great ideas, and if I were to do it again might have done the hinge for sure...I ran out of my alotted time.

HI Pete,
I really like your your extention table design.  I am going to be building one and I was wondering what dimensions your table is.  I think the festool extention is to small.  Do you like the size you built or would you make it bigger.
            Thanks MAC
