Has anyone put a router in their mft ? I am planning on doing just that on an mft 800 and I would love to see some pics.
I think you could make a pretty good fence using the grooves on the top side and as I have a 1080 and 2 800's I really only use the 800's to catch the offcuts
so I think putting a router in one would be a good Idea and it would'nt take up anymore space in my shop and I can still connect them together.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated

Ireland--

Have a look at this post and this one.

I'm going to get a new top to replace the one with the router hole in it, and build a more conventional router table workstation.  One advantage of the cabinet approach is better dust collection than you'd get with a non-Festool router in your MFT.  I intend this workstation to have space for the VS600 in both working and stowed positions.

If you're going to use one of your 800s, I would replace the top with a solid, laminate-covered one.

Thanks Ned

But I was planning from the start to change the top and its only 4 screws so its not the end of the world to interchange them.

I was just going to use mdf with no holes but you said laminated why?

Laminated chipboard would'nt be strong enough would it ?

Formica or the like 'cause I want it smo-o-oth, maybe even slick.

As a dedicated router table, I think the 800 would be fine.  How are you going to handle dust collection?

For what it is worth, I have installed a lift in one of my MFTs. Works fine.

Andrea installing:
