That is a great video. Are there any videos out there that show how to drill the MFT top using the LR32 and the Festool parallel guides?

The LR32 + parallel guides method is a neat idea! My only concern with that setup is that cumulative error might make it tough to maintain the precision alignment. It'd still be an interesting experiment to try!

My current plan is to build a workbench made for hand tools, and use a Paulk-style "mft" bench on top for Festool work. This method has just shot to #1 for making the mft part! However, does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about making the top using the LR32 system (which I now have an excuse for buying) but without an mft? Obviously the main thing missing from this equation is a means of squaring the guide rail when routing the 20mm holes.
Ps how does one so young afford such lovely toys?

It's the OF 1010 router with Festool's 20mm hinge boring bit.
I know where you're coming from, and I had same concern about longevity of the bit. But, there was absolutely no issue with the cutter. Last plunge was just like the first.
Taking it slow and making sure to let the router do the work, I'd go as far to say the bit could very well manage 50+ MFT tops before needing attention. MDF is like butter to cut through.
Maybe someone in the kitchen cabinets industry can chime in and let us know what life they get with their 35mm/20mm hinge boring bits in that application.
