picked one up today along with the type cover and I have to say I'm impressed. heavier than a standard tablet but a lot more usable. Now I have Sketchup, Draftsight and more in tablet format and its the bees knees.

Got a Surface tablet for Xmas but returned it before 30 days were up. I thought the hardware was sublime, the software not so much. Lots of bugs. Way too confusing with the 2 desktops, Win 8 and classic windows. It was a chore to get the SD Card to be recognized and usable. But mostly because the App Store looked like a grocery store after a zombie apocalypse. There were hardly any apps and especially mainstream apps like Pandora, Facebook, Tapatalk, etc.
The Pro version can run so much more being a full blown Win 8 machine. Howz the battery life? Wish they could combine the Surface hardware with iPad software.

Ive been away from windows for a long while, but its pretty simple to get the handle of. Theres a lot of negative press regarding windows 8 and its usability and this was a serious concern of mine but for me at least its pretty self explanatory.  There are quite a few variations of windows tablets/laptops out there all running different hardware. Speaking from the surface pro perspective so far its really fast and stable. There is some scaling issues when using desktop pregrams but nothing ive found that ruins the experience. Surface pro comes with a Wacom tech stylus, the snap on keypad has an integrated mouse section as you would find on any laptop and makes selecting items using either pretty easy. running sketchup and CAD programs, and using a stylus are all things I wanted when tablets first hit the popular market. its all here on this device. Battery life is significantly less than standard tablets on the market today but you're getting a lot more tech in this device than your old cell phone os device.

Also important to note that Surface Pro runs full Windows 8 and not Windows 8 RT, which can't run regular Windows applications.
