Midi vac / Boom Arm solution

I have had a Midi vac for a couple of years now but I really wanted the Festool Boom Arm.  I bought the vac not realizing that I would ever want the Boom Arm or that it wasn't designed to work with it.  This year I went ahead and bought the Boom Arm with the idea of mounting it to my work bench/Kapek cabinet.  It sat in the garage for a couple of months before I decided to figure out how to mount it.  At some point in that process I had the thought that if I could just build a simple cart to put the Midi on I could mount the Boom Arm to the cart and still be able to easily remove the Midi to use in other locations.  Its not fancy or pretty but it works like a charm and as others have said before........... the Boom Arm is my favorite Festool purchase.

Excuse the wood scrap mess, my next project was a fix for the growing pile of cut-offs.

That looks good. I might have to do something similar with my midi.

Having never seen the boom arm. Does it separate to smaller sections for transport?  [embarassed]

The Boom Arm does come apart fairly easily but I had to bolt/screw this to the base so it isn't as mobile as it being attached to a CT vac.

Great idea!

My CT Mini was one of my first Festool purchases and at that point I wasn't educated enough on the details of what options only work with specific Festool models.  My plan was to purchase a UDD so it made sense to purchase the smallest Festool vacuum since the UDD was giving me tons of extra capacity.  I didn't realize, or even envision, that I would want a boom arm down the road.

Thanks for posting this solution.

Great job. I too got the midi as my first purchase with a ts55 some years back now. I didn't know or consider a boom arm for any later purchase or need.
I have tried a Dust Deputy on my other vac for the Kapex, it works so well I now have another and am thinking of hooking it to the midi. I now have a mft/3 so a boom arm and complete midi-dustdeputy-boom arm cart would be just the thing. I like what you've done so if you don't mind I'll copy it and make something similar.
