Ran a search but didn't come up with anything. Looking at the CT ASA 492753 and wondering if it might be adaptable to my CT MIDI I, or even mounted to the workbench (somehow)?

Any thoughts?

I looked at it for awhile but couldn't see a way to make the Boom hardware work with a Midi, so I made a couple of yokes and got it working with my bench. I saved a massive bag of parts in case I ever want to use them with my CT26.

[member=71322]Imemiter[/member] Thanks. I found a seller who has the boom arm and I think only the boom arm - with none of the other attachments to attach it to the CT, or the legs. But attaching it to the bench could be a good route. Might you be able to share some pics on how you attached it?

Could it work with the MIDI handle attached?  It looks like most of the attachment points are on the handle assembly.

Not as I recall. The handle that comes with won't fit a Midi and the Midi handle is considerably less sturdy. But last I looked I didn't have the handle. The hive has always maintained that the Midi has a weight/footprint problem and I think that's probably right.

Here's a photo [member=82312]onocoffee[/member]. The yokes T-bolt into the back of my homie Sys AZ, augmented by a base on the floor and the handle/boom arm connecter T-bolted to my modified Kreg table. To take a better picture I'd have to move stuff around.

I also found my Boom Arm used. Honestly, even hacked to the bench it's one of my favorite Festool.

I see what you mean.  I didn't think about the strength needed to support the arm.  It looks like you have a good setup.

[member=71322]Imemiter[/member] Thanks for the pic. That helps!

Haven't heard back from the seller so who knows if I'll get it. If I do, I do. If not, oh well, next time.

My friend just got the handle for the MIDI and we installed it a couple days ago. It's decent but I would have to agree: it does not look robust enough to handle the kind of forces I would expect from swinging the boom arm around. It's only held in place with four screws on the bottom of the CT and the handle flexes a bit even under a little stress. Convenient though.

The handle's most redeeming feature, IMHO, is the cord wrap. It turns snaking the hose in the garage into a process filled with much less colorful language.

I actually put a cord wrap (but no handle) on my OG CT-MINI for the same reason. That one has a trunk-like 12 AWG cord on it, which also contributes to the space concerns in the garage...

I have the cord wrap on my mini as well …comes very handy when the cyclone ct-va-20 is on top

More than almost any other feature, the cord wrap's quick-release trick has converted a couple of my coworkers from Festool skeptical to a grudging admiration for good design.

If you're on the FB Festool Owner's Group, you can search for "Boom Arm Midi" User John Pollman's post from Sept 2024 will come up. It's basically a drill and grinder job (for rear wheel clearance).
