In relation to the kapex trenching thread, I have been thinking hard about getting a kapex, before i make my choice, what is the max trenching height? So I can see if it will affect me or not.

Leigh, the range is up down to 1-5/16" from the deck of the saw (33mm). Hopefully that's clear. Meaning that you would leave no less than 1-5/16" of material at the deepest trenching position.

Thank you for the quick response Shane. Makes it clear.

Hi All
It was my post that was removed about the Kapex trench depth for apparently "safety reasons" i dont know what was not safe about it ?
NO guarding is removed ,the saw is still the same I can just get 85mm under the blade rather than 33mm
I have used my hands now to make my living with wood for 30 years , SAFETY is always first, and I've still got all my fingers !!
This site is full of modification, I for one use JMB'S mod for the clip on base on the  CMS, Festool never made it like that , but for me it works better
My preferred method for trenching is a dado blade in a table saw with a sliding table
but sometimes  the Kapex is better for certain jobs , i trench out for the pulley styles on  window cillls for box sash windows (double hung )
The cill has a 9º bevel a step and then flat on the top, the trench is parallel with the bottom so a radial arm with a dado blade would be best
I dont have one now so in my book the kapex is second, no jigs to make to do it with a router or a plunge saw and just as safe use properly like everything that cuts wood !!

Ps when did Festool own this site ??

Festool has owned the site since July 2009.

Myself and the moderators do our best to monitor the forum but it's but always possible to read ever single post. If you or other members see something that may be a safety issue, hit the "report to moderator" link that appears on every post.

I don't think this thread needs to go any further so it's being locked. The question of posts being removed for perceived mild criticism has been addressed and is simply not the case. If a post looks like it could result in someone hurting themselves, it gets removed. It's at the discretion of the moderators and myself to decide what constitutes potential safety concerns and the likelihood of someone getting hurt. It's not always an easy call to make, but we do it in the best interests of our forum members and, to be honest, to prevent liability.

Now, back to talking about tools...
