Milwaukee M18 Fuel Track Saw

I wonder how the Mafell with a single battery compares to the dual battery TSC/K?

Right now I have the MT 55 corded and the TSC/K cordless...like them both. The thin kerf TSC cuts a lot easier than the older regular kerf TSC.

I have both the TSC and the MT55 18M bl, (and the corded MT55cc FWIW).  I haven’t done a direct comparison between the two cordless saws but tend to use the Mafell for most cuts that are away from my cutting station. I’ve never noticed the saw to bog down that much. I believe it to be better than my old corded TS 55, which I sold because of its lack of power.

Changing the blade on the Mafell is so simple that one is not tempted to use “the wrong blade” for cuts as well. Having that correct blade on allows the saw saw to cut efficiently, even with a single battery platform.

I will say, however, that the Mafell with its single battery cuts much better than the TSC 55 in its single battery configuration.

The ease of Mafell blade changing is simply brilliant, that in itself is a game changer.

How would you characterize the cutting between the single battery Mafell and the double battery Festool?

Yep it was 1.5”
Is there any difference between the tsc 55 motor new to old or is all this in crease cutting power just the new thinner blades?

Yes.  Kyle Stumpenhorst (RR Building on Youtube) went to the Milwaukee roll out and did a short review. Milwaukee review

I already have a great track saw (Mafell corded) but I was in the market for one, this one looks pretty nice.  Milwaukee's line is really growing on me.

I have not noticed enough difference between the two for me to grab the Festool, unless I am wanting to use the 3000 rail or when I am using the TSO parallel guides. I don’t prefer to use the MT55’s on the FS rails so will grab the TSC 55 instead when I use the FS rails.

The electronics is different, the K version no longer takes 15V packs. The motor is also a different part# possibly for same reason. So there will be some efficiency (say, up to 10%) squeezed there as the winding can be also optimised.

But the bulk is from the thinner blade and then the effect of the motor operating (thanks to that) in its optimal point longer. They also improved the controller to react faster to a slow-down, which helps with smoothness as it does not allow a further slow down into an area where the motor becomes torque-limited.

That said, unless someone is cutting 2" stock regularly, I never felt the original TSC underpowered. It can chew through 2" softwood even with a cross-cut 48T blade with no issue and 11/2" beech is also absolutely fine.

Nice! I have a brother who is very invested in Milwaukee cordless so he is going to have a hard time ignoring this ;)

Time will tell I am sure as it gets more use the positive and negative sides of the saw.

I'm curious what this thing is in the background? It almost looks like a prototype of the new track saw because of the general fit & finish. Or is it a different Milwaukee offering altogether?

Here's the photoshopped photo of Milwaukee's track saw 3 years ago...does it look familiar?
