Greetings, this is a mini-review of the Mini-Systainer and Drill/Driver Bit Insert. It's short on text and long on pictures.
In addition to drill and driver bits, the insert can also hold jigsaw blades too.
I purchased a Mini-Systainer in order to move a bit/drill set from a larger, unwieldy container to a smaller systainer.
I keep a set in the house so I don't have to bring anything in from the shop and I've grown tired of the container for the set.
Review Items:
Both items arrived promptly and in perfect shape.
Here's the mini-systainer:
Here's the insert (two pieces):
Here's the bottom piece in the systainer:
Here's both pieces in the systainer:
As mentioned earlier, the goal is to take the set contents and put them in the mini-systainer:
So let's see how it goes. Loading up the bottom, we end up with this:
With the top insert in place, we end up with this:
Result: Success!
I'm quite pleased with the mini-systainer. The insert is nice too. I had a small issue with
the drill bit sizes. I had to double up one slot with two drill bits but it's fine.
The only other downside is that I purchased the set with a corded drill from Costco about 6 years ago.
Price: $39 (great deal!).
The cost of the mini-systainer + insert = $37.50.
P.S. Bonus super mini review of the Rollgear ratcheting bit driver from Lee Valley shown in pictures!
The Rollgear bit driver is pretty decent. The ratchet function has 3 postions and the ratchet makes no
sound. The driver is confortable in the hand. It's cheaper than the Festool driver.
The issues I have with it are:
- Silent ratcheting takes a bit of getting used to (not a big deal)
- The ratchet switch has a small range and the detents are not big.
This means that it's very easy to move past the 'lock' position.
- No indication of what the switch is set to.
Thanks for reading!
