Mini Systainers - Do you use them?

OOh - I want some of those!  They would be perfect for small parts storage for various tools.

Reviving this thread because I got several 3 mini-systainers for Christmas and am not sure what to do with them?

I saw the thread by VWMick with the wedge-bags in one. I don't own the wedge bags, but even if I did that would only use up one Mini-Sys.

I'm looking for other ideas, and especially pictures of how you use 'em?

Thanks in advance!

I have 5 or 6 of the mini's. I'd have to check. I don't use them daily but use them to store important small tools I don't use much. I've found them to be very handy. Worth it to organize small but important tools that easily get misplaced otherwise.
1 has my Cat V tools in it; don't use those often but sure am glad I know where they are when I need them
1 has pencils, compasses, small marking gauges etc.
1 has bench dogs
1 has stair marking / tools; the knobs you put on the framing square, the small dimple things you use to mark holes on handrails for alignment, a couple small corner chisels, etc.
Don't remember whats in the other 1 or two

I'm so glad to see this question. I have a question along the same lines. I too have been thinking of getting a mini systainer but my use would be to store all of my Festool owners manuals in one. Can someone that has a mini verify for me that the manual fits inside a mini?  That will determine if I get one or not.

Yes, the manuals fit in a mini systainer. This is how I store my manuals to tools that do not have a systainer such as MFT, Kapex, CT's and so on.

I have my hand sanding kit that came in a mini.  Then I have 3 more Tanos that I use for MFS small parts, jigsaw blades, and my Blokkz clamping kit in the last one.

I recently purchased 10 of the mini-systainers from Woodcraft during their 50% off sale, along with some different types of inserts and lid inserts.

I also purchased a gaggle of the Classic Systainers (2, 3 and 4 sizes) a few months ago during that 50% off sale.

I can keep the mini-systainers in the shop stacked, or if need be, can place four (4) of them into one of the Classic Systainers I keep empty if I need to carry to a job.  If it's not something I use often, it's stored in the classics.

Best thing about use of these for screws, it's now all organized, and as I unwittingly discovered, I had several packs of the same size screws.  This will help control my inventory going forward.

A few pics below of a couple of mini-systainers holding some of my screws....

50% off sale?  I need to figure out how to stay on top of sales like that so i dont miss out.

I have a Tanos mini that I use for holding a small jump box/battery pack in the under seat box of my truck, I have a 3 Festool ones that I don't really use right now other than one houses my Tokarev pistol and some rounds.

The other two have the compartments in them and used to hold fasteners and hardware for around the house but I recently moved those to some ikea containers that I am pretty sure they came in.  Probably do some pick and pluck foam and put some measureing devices in them or something.

I bought four through Woodcraft on the sale. I have already put my Bosch cross laser in one of them with pick and pluck foam. I just won a Bosch distance laser and got a Milwaukee testor as a stocking present. They will be put in another. The little guys are great storage options.

Great! Thanks for the info. I guess I'll get one.

I purchased one to make a Mini First Aid kit. Have another mini sys on the way with an Apron, which I am sure I will find a use for.

i store my wera custom set of ratchet and sockets i picked out for mobile use.

The mini's have been a godsend for my travels between the USA and Nigeria.  I use them to store my overseas cell phones, external hard drives, various plugs and wires, USB chargers, and other small items in my checked baggage. This keeps the stored items safe from banging around while being handled by heavy-handed airport workers.

Another is used to store condiments and small bottles like sea salt and soy sauce that I bring with me to Nigeria each trip. Keeps them from potentially spilling after a breakage while enroute.

They fit very nicely in my Sierra rolling soft suitcases.

At home, I have one mini used for miscellaneous drill bits that have seen better days, or aren't part of any set.... just in case I want to use them at some time.

Cheers,

Frank

I think I found my first use for one of the Mini-Systainers. My wife gave some small Bessey clamps for Christmas. They have a 4" opening and a quick-slide adjustment similar to the Festool ones:

Little clamps all in a row:

And all 8 in a Mini-Sys:

I'm not sure that I'm totally happy with the way I did the foam, and I need some thicker pieces of foam for the ends. I also need something for the lid, but it's an idea and it looks like it might work out quite well!

  like those clamps wow,
That foam won't do though, one gust of wind and that will be gone,
I think a better idea is some 6mm ply sitting in the bottom covered with some draw liner, this stops rattles and can be taken out easily to blow out saw dust.
I can try and upload a picture if you would like to see what the detail looks like.

I have several of the taller Tanos ones with various inserts. They're great for organizing small things. One holds my wax touch-up pencils and stain pens. Another holds various drill/driver bits. Another for bushings. Another I keep empty for you never know what. The slickest, I think, is the one for my Lee Valley low-angle block plane and accessories.
