My TS has been great for the last few years, today the spring for the riving knife popped off for some reason when making a cut.  In this parts diagram it is #13, depending on the speed of your computer, it might take a minute to open up, its a pdf file.

I took the side cover off and it looks as though the spring is undamaged but I'm not sure where the spring hooks onto.  Can anyone give me a little guidence.

Thanks.

Check out this thread on the talkFestool forum. This thread is about cutting drywall with the TS55, the thread starts off with a big picture of the TS55 opened up, you'll see the spring.

I think you have to be registered as a member of talkFestool before you can see most images or attachments, so the photo won't be visible to the vast majority of FOG members and guests.

Any chance of a link to a photo that isn't hosted on the tF server?

That seems to be true for images that are only available through the tF member's gallery but pictures are linked from all over so there are still a lot that are visible. On the other hand, it's easy and free to become a member of talkFestool. (It's great that Shane removed the photo visibility restriction here.)

Indeed. Which is why I didn't say that all the images on tF were invisible.

However, the image in question, which you seem to have just provided a direct link to in your post, ie...

Code:
http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/attachments/festool-tools/3348d1265219301-ts55-blade-issue-ts55-knife.jpg

...is still invisible to non-members of tF, as it's hosted by the tF server.

So it's back to my original question - is there any chance of a link to a photo that isn't hosted on the tF server, so that everyone can see it?

How about this screenshot?

That worked! Many thanks for solving the image viewing problem, and thanks to Brice too, for knowing where to find such a clear photo of the spring.

Hopefully Hoover will find it useful...

Perfect!!!!

Just fixed it and she works perfectly now.  Thanks to everyone for the help.

Brice,

In the interest of not causing an issue, I will delete my previous post.  I have no desire to cause an issue with copyright infringements or start a long thread.

Thanks again for helping out Peter - at least Hoover was able to see the picture and fix his saw.

I just wanted to follow up on something that came about on this thread.  In the process of trying to get an answer to a member here, I went to another forum and captured a screenshot of an image there and then came back and posted it here.  This was done because at the time, that forum - TalkFestool - had a policy where visitors could not view images or galleries hosted on their forum without being members.

My action may have violated copyrights of the original poster of the image.  Apologies were made, my post was deleted at my request, and life moved on.

I would like all of you to know that as of today TalkFestool has changed their policy to to allow all visitors to their forum to view images and the galleries.

I would like to thank Dan Clark for his assistance in getting this policy changed.  Dan and the others,  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Peter
