Was in the local Woodcraft after work today and while wandering around the festool area, I noticed some dominoes (floating tenons) laying on top of their mft 800.  I knew what they were as soon as I saw them and turned to one of the guys who work there and asked if they had a demo today.  He said I had just missed it!  He left some of the pieces he joined together and it was quite interesting.  Only the end most mortise and tenon were a tight fit like a traditional M & T joint.  The rest had a tight fit only as to the thickness but not by the width.  The width appeared to be around 1/4 inch on either side of the tenon.  The first joint is for the alignment, the balance for strength.  The dominoes themselves were solid wood, not a pressed material like a biscuit.  You could separate the joined boards by half an inch or so and the joint was still very strong.  All in all, very impressive!  At almost a grand when you consider the cost of the machine plus the $200 tenon kit, it's going to be interesting to see how many they sell.
