Miter saw setup

I had a kitchen cabinet install to do with a two piece crown and crown backer. The crown backer was too big for the Kapex, so I had to bring out the anchor! The Dewalt cuts great but the dust was everywhere. You don't realize how good the dc is on the Kapex until you use another saw. If these two can work together maybe there is hope for Mideast peace!

Nice.

I have this stand and did something similar with it. However, I am very tired of the hardware falling off.

I set mine up with a sheet of ply on the saw so that any miter saw could be used on it.

whats that yellow thing  ??? ;D

It's a fungus. It's not polite to point it out publicly - just pretend like you didn't see it.

Exactly,

As for the dust collection issue, maybe adding a kapex style dust hood on the dewalt could improve its efficiency?

this was a setup on the job, its the costumers garage and that yellow vac belongs to the GC.

here, this photo shows one of my good vacs. miter saw stays constant in the chaos…

Duburban, besides the Kapex and the Dewalt I have a 8-1/2" Hitachi miter saw. I put all three saws on the Dewalt brackets so that I could use any of the saws without having to change the fence of the tables. All three saws are matched in height and distance from the fence. I have the Kapex mounted in the truck on a cut down Dewalt saw horse. The Dewalt stand isn't perfect but is compact when broken down and fairly steady when setup.

So you adjust the height of each saw by using spacers between the saw base and the mounting brackets? Sounds like a great plan.

My next move is to get the smaller dewalt stand and use extension wings with their own adjustable feet, maybe they will mate with the saw by a unit that is built into the mounting bracket?

Yes I made spacers for the Dewalt and Hitachi to match the height of the Kapex. I have two sets of wings, one 5' and one 8'. The 5' wings are supported by the Dewalt outriggers alone the 8's need the extra support of extendable legs. When I'm not cutting in the truck the 5's do most of my site work. I break out the 8's when I'm cutting a lot of long stock and need the stops for repetitive cuts. I am going to get the smaller Dewalt stand so that I can put it on my lift gate and be able to cut 18' Azek in the truck. Plus lately we've been working in some small rooms and the smaller stand will come in handy.
