I am getting a Powermatic PJ-882HH but not sure of the best mobile base option to go with. I know powermatic makes one to go with it but it is a little pricey at $400 and reviews are not great about the quality.  Considering a BORA Super Duty Mobile Base - All Swivel so I can get it pushed up against a wall easily.  Thoughts?  Thanks

Personally I hate all swivel wheels. You push one direction and it goes in a different direction. Two fixed and two swivel wheels is my preference with the swivel wheels being locking from rolling and swiveling. Also I tend to use 4" wheels on heavier items so they roll really well, plus I like to lift them enough so my vacuum nozzle fits underneath.

With that said I welded some plates to the bottom of my small old Powermatic 6" jointer and used 3" wheels I already had. I built a frame for my tablesaw with 4" wheels. Do you have a welder? That would open up lots of options.

Otherwise I would look for a rolling base that has all metal construction that doesn't use plywood. The one by Powermatic that fits perfectly and costs a fortune is guaranteed to work excellently.

Looks like the Bora is only $100 less than the PM base. I'd go for the purpose built base and not the fits-all from Bora.

Get the Powermatic base. You will be disappointed with any of the other options. For the cost of a stationary machine having the factory base is the way to go.

Although I have the SawStop mobile base, I agree with JimH2 to go with the OEM base. The SawStop base has a hydraulic lift that really works well.
