Sorry if these are coming out upside-down, I'm having real problems uploading these for some reason.

Loads of room for the hose and extra accessories. Can also fit a sander in there if you wanted. The systainer walls are a little thin but I don't think this will be an issue. When the lid is closed its rock solid.  You could easily add some thin ply if you wanted to strengthen them slightly but I don't think I will bother. Tom

Nice. One size taller but with more room for accessories and a multi function use. Perfect for the quick job, tool set up. Vac and bench in one!  [thumbs up]

Thanks Seth. Just need to be careful when cutting. Maybe best to avoid the hose/ cable side altogether!

Yeah, good point. Going to have to design a portable shield accessory.  [big grin]

I really  appreciate every systainer mod.  That being said,  I still wish festool wood have made this vacuum in the sys  midi size.  One of my favorite things about this group of fanatics is the creativity...keep dreaming folks :)

Very nicely done, how did you manage to find the dark blue sys mft lid?

I think it is the Tanos anthracite MFT lid.

Seeing this made me wonder if a vacuum clamping top could be made to use
the CTL-SYS as the vacuum source and the top would hold the workpiece free
and clear of any clamps.

Maybe extend the slid in the side to the bottom (and a piece of something to slide in to cover the empty top part, hold the hose down and stabilize the wall) to get the hose out of harms way?

A cheap vacuum pump (like this or similar, just add a particle filter so it dosn't suck in sawdust) put directly into the systainer would be cheaper, smaller, not that loud, use less power and most likely work better.

So the OP inspired me to finally do this with my CT Sys.  I used a T-Loc - III II. Made the cut outs with a Dremel and spiral drywall bit and hack saw. Used a forstner to start the 'U' shaped hose opening. Followed by  Dremel drum sanding and a little hand sanding to smooth edges.

This took not more than an hour and half. It was easy to do.  Makes a nice portable set up for small tasks. Drill systainer and or tool box attaches and is still easy to carry in one stack. This does not effect the original top unit or the bottom unit at all so it is easy to change back when / if desired.

Thanks for showing the process [member=1619]SRSemenza[/member] .  I think I'm going to have to do the same -- I actually just recently bought the Sys-MFT so I can move the lid over to an empty Sys-II.  It just gets tiresome with the hose and cord not fitting all the way in the upper part, and when I stack mine on the Sys-roll or sys-cart I usually have to take off the cord and put it in another case.  BTW, have you checked to see if you can fit a 36mm hose in the upper systainer?
