Hey all.
First post.
Fell victim to the green and grey Kool-Aid. Rabbit hole is deep on this one.

Anyway,
I had a quick question concerning the new braided hoses.

Can the new braided hoses be modified similarly without ruining too much of the integrity of the braiding? ie, can you buy a longer braided hose and create two smaller ones without destroying it?

I'm trying to setup my new shop. I have a brand new stationary Kapex that I want to setup with a 36mm hose, but I also want a larger hose for the OF1400 and track saw. I will use separate 27m solution for the domino and my sanders.

Was hoping to get away with buying just one long hose and modifying it. And yes, I know I could just buy the older hoses, or anti-static hoses. but I love the new hoses. especially considering I want to use it for track saw and routing. My guess is the new braided hoses aren't exactly meant to be modified like that.

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Yes, they can be modified. I have shortened  a couple of them. After you take the connector off you will find some sort of tape holding the end of the braided cover to the hose.  I forget exactly how I did the cutting ................ hose and cover separately I think. Be sure to do it in a way that allows re-taping the cover. I seem to remember needing to cut the cover just a bit shorter than the hose. I used electrical tape. Pull around tight and press it tight and smooth.
