I need to shorten my Festool vacuum hose between my Festool dust collector and my Kapex miter saw. Can I cut the hose and re-install the connector at the end?
Thanks
Mike

Use the Kapex to cut the hose....

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Which type of hose do you have?  Old ribbed or new smooth?  What size?

Yes, it’s pretty easy and not much to it. Just measure twice and cut once!

I kept on cutting and it just got shorter  [scared]

Lol, you need your woodstretcher to fix that!
That's actually a great idea for small tool leads.  I have the 36mm hose on my CT and always have to find a 27mm hose that's buried somewhere so I can hook up my sander.  I could keep a stubby like that right by the sander.

Hi, Thanks for the response. I have a green ribbed hose. Once I cut it, will the end connector just slip back on? What holds the connector onto the hose
Thanks

Cutting the newer, green and smooth sleeved Festool 27mm/32mm dust collection hose.

1. I don't now have this particular hose, but want to buy one.
2. I actually only need a 4 ft. length of this hose.
2. How does one take off the large, rotating, black plastic connection off the hose's end? Will pulling it like heck make it come off? If, not, then how does one take it off?
3. How should it be installed onto the freshly cut hose? It needs to be air-tight! Black electrical tape will work, but is this the only way to make it air-tight?

I'm a Festool newbie. Sorry guys.

Each end is made up of three parts. There are several videos that show how to take the ends apart. It is the same process for the old or new style hose.
You might have a problem with the size of the ends because the hose is tapered. If you cut near the middle the diameter of the hose will be around 29.5mm. I am not sure how well either end will screw onto the hose.

Using a four foot section you don't get any of the benefits of the new hose. I'd look for and old stock spiral hose to cut up. Hartville Hardware often has them.

Michael,

I only need about 4 ft of the 27mm hose to connect from my Oneida Ultimate Dust Deputy to the CT 15. The cyclone will ride on the top of the C15, and that's only about 4 ft. The diameter of the hose included with the cyclone was too wide to pass through the CT 15 side opening for the hose.

I've come to the same conclusion as you: just get a spiral hose of the right diameter and install vac hose end adapters onto both ends of the short hose. I've ordered two of these adapters. Not cheap at $35 ea.

By the way, I found a YouTube video explaining how to replace the ends of a Festool dust collection hose. Here's the URL:

Speaking of spiral hoses, I too have had problems with the hoses' rings getting caught behind my tools. An Australian guy has come up with a relatively inexpensive solution: wrap the hose with a plastic cable wrap. Here is the URL:
