Beautiful craftsmanship! What wood do you use? Maple for the most part or is it something like basswood?
Thank you for the compliment.
The frame is oak and the panels are basswood. No finish, everything is natural.

I admire that. To the moon. I can't fathom that amount of patience. Neither would my wife fathom me being that patient. Kudos to you, sir. Are you available to babysit my grandkids? They require the same level of patience. :)

That's some incredible work. Would love to see a photo of it with sunlight on it casting that intricate shadow to the wall.

JC, I have admired your work and contributions to this forum for a few years. This is absolutely stunning - well done!

which took longer the cedar strip canoe hanging from the ceiling or the kumiko? At $25 an hour that’s a $5,000-$7,500 in labor. The wood is Alaskan Yellow Cedar clear (quarter sawn)? That’s some serious work. I can’t fathom building that... incredible! everything is hand cut and planed?

Wonderful screen.  How do you rip and notch your strips? I have just bought a TKS 80 and am trying to make strips before moving to the dozuki / jigs stage?

Cheers
