Hi all,

I have just put together the Kapex 120 and Underset and, I believe, carefully followed the instructions.

The four bolts attaching the retaining rails are all tight.
The folding/fixed stirrups are attached and locked in position.
The folding stirrup is in the base frame.
The left and right hand trimming attachments are securely attached.

However, I find that I can easily move the underset.  :o

Surely this cannot be correct? Any idea as to what I am missing.

Thanks for reading,
Neil

When you attach the left and right material supports make sure that the lugs that attach to the underside of the main stand are pushed under to their full extent.

I missed that when I first put mine together

Guy,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I won't be able to try this until Thursday, but I think I might have made the same mistake.

Thanks,
Neil

There's an elongated hole in the small, rectangular plate underneath the extension wings that is used to engage them. Before you tighten the fastener, make certain that the plate is moved all the way toward the center of the Kapex. It makes it truly rigid. Otherwise, it can flop around.

It has been discussed here before and one thread even has images.

Thank you for your reply. I followed yours and Guy's advice and have now fitted the extension wings correctly. It is now more solid but, definitely not truly rigid.

If I push the Kapex gently there is movement in the underset/mobile cart. I'm sure that the extensions are fine, it must be something to do with the underset (UG).

Is there anything else that I should be doing?

Thanks,
Neil

The critical factor is the alignment. A little movement isn't a problem as long as things aren't shifting out of square or out of level.

Mine's not "dead solid", but it certainly isn't giving me any accuracy issues.

I've spent so much time trying to get it solid, that I haven't actually cut anything yet!

Right, thank you for that it makes me feel better. I was coming round to thinking that I would put my foot on the underset when making a cut.

Thanks,
Neil
