MW 1000 - setting up storage

I picked up a MW 1000 from my local Woodcraft this weekend.  Figured if I was pretty sure I wanted one I'd better get it before the $75 price hike.

Got it put together yesterday and noticed in the manual that you can use a regular SYS-AZ drawer on the bottom of the MW 1000.  Anybody have this setup?  Seems handy for accessing something in a large systainer like a saw, but the latch to release is almost on the floor.  That's a lot of bending over!
I used the included special drawer towards the top and have my T18.  Debating whether I get the SYS-AZ and another AZ WS, or just the SYS-AZ.  Those special drawers are going up $20 on 4/1, but not sure i really need one for $80 either.

The workspace on the MW 1000 is surprisingly large, especially for how compact it is when the extension table is stowed.
I tested out rolling it up stairs - definitely not for the faint of heart.  I have a lot of stairs in my house, I'm not sure I'll enjoy that aspect of the MW 1000.  Still, it's better than levering a full MFT/3 up narrow stairs while trying not to bang the walls.
I think I'll really appreciate the table when working outdoors.  I might need to coat the mdf with some Osmo before working in a damp situation.

I have the MW-1000 and did add the bottom drawer.  I like it!  Gives you easy access to that bottom space.

I have my Sys-Vac on the bottom and the pull-out makes it easy to access the tools in the top portion of that.

The bench is a bit heavy for going up and down stairs, but I find definitely easier to move than the alternatives.  I’m surprised how much I used it as a supplemental bench in my workshop and with mobile flexibility.

Nothing wrong when traversing stairs to make more than one trip with more manageable loads. Then put it together where your going to use it.
It is a very handy workbench.

I have posted before about attaching a TSO Guide Rail Square to the MW1000. Its a pretty sweet setup. Think I will attach a picture.

I’ve also added the SYS AZ and a second SYS AZ MW.
It makes it a lot more versatile.

Would be cool if this could also be a thread about making the TSB/1 MW 1000 more stable. I have thought of a couple of solutions. Main focus is to keep it simple and fully functional - so that the original idea of having a transportable SYS carrier and a MFT table  is kept.

I like the MW1000, but do think that it is rough going up the stairs with it, because the legs can easily get caught on stuff.  I think this is the trade-off needed to make it stable when used as a work surface.

I agree, I like the MW 1000 a lot too. But the lighter purpose made SYS Roll is much more a dedicated unit for moving systainers around, especially in stairs.
For compact movable work table setup’s on site or moving it close to the work area even at home projects it is great. I can see that fitters and carpenters will benefit hugely by this. And if I were to see one set up by a craftsman, I would think it looked professional and tidy.

Shoot. When the MW-1000 came out I was in the middle of planning my Vac Sys cart and thought (and still do) it could be a very nifty Vac Sys cart on the go with a little ingenuity.

Thanks for the feedback.  I ordered a regular Sys-AZ and another SYS-AZ MW 1000.  Almost like having a Sys-port with a work top when it's in the garage.  Pretty handy.
Good point about making multiple trips.  I could take the table extension in a separate trip which would make the cart lighter when going up stairs.
I wondered why make the SYS-Roll too - now it makes sense if you just want mobility for your systainers out of the shop environment.  My wife bought me the little flat carts with wheels that are great underneath the MFT.  It's nice that they have a variety of carts/stations depending on what type of work and mobility you need.

I haven't done any heavy work on the MW 1000, but it seems pretty stable on concrete once I leveled the feet.  The cart is very stable when leveled and I had the extension on the backside of the cart.

I most likely would skip the SYS-AZ drawers and instead put the money into SORT/3 systainer(s) to ride the MW 1000.

I looked into the Sort tainers as well, but they didn't make as much sense for my purposes. 
In my workshop I have plenty of toolbox/cabinet drawer space.  What I lack is easy access to tools in systainers.
That's been remedied a bit by those roller bases and now having some pull outs in the MW 1000.
And when I work outside the shop I grab a few tools in systainers and throw some hand tools in a box.
