My 9 yr old finished his project

My son finished his book case today. He did the adjustable shelves with the LR32 & 1400, Used the Domino to attach the top and bottom fixed shelves and the front toe kick trim piece.

Started with rough sawn popular. I ran the back slats, sides & shelves  through the table saw for him but he pretty much did the rest himself (with supervision).

His first sizable project. Not bad for a 9 year old. (spoken like a proud father  )

OUTSTANDING!!!  This just tickles me!!!  Earlier this weekend with Warren's project with his son, and now ScottW....  Way to go!!!  Scott, please tell your boy it looks great for me!

Very nicely done, Colin   You should be very proud of your son.

It's always good to see the passion for woodworking passed from generation to generation.  I grew up helping my father with custom cabinetry.  I think that's how I ended up with sawdust in my blood (obviously pre-Festool days).

I think it is a great idea. Good thinking there Tim.  Maybe it could include grandfathers, uncles, or even mentors. It's a great way to keep the hobby alive.

Excellent job Colin. Many of us 'grown ups'  ;D have trouble getting our minds around the LR32 in action. Next we want to see a fully functional poplar XBOX 360 made from the left-overs.  ;D ;D

Put me down as a vote for a FOG section oshowing team efforts by family/fields/mentors.

I do recall a couple of ladies on here as well.  We all know how Politically Correct I am  ;D  Qwas brings up a great point with mentors/uncles/grandparents etc.  Perhaps "woodworking through the generations" gallery????

I've been following this thread and the interest in a parent-child discussion area, which I think is terrific, and certainly in the spirit of this forum.  Even better if we can show how Festool comes into the picture!

I've created a brand-new board for this purpose, called "Parent/Child Accomplishments."

I've made this discussion the first one in the new board.

If someone has another suggestion for the name, please feel free to speak up.

Matthew I think that the board is a great idea and I plan to start a thread or two here soon.  But, the name is a little too specific.  In my case, I work on some projects with my grandchildren and with some children for whom I am an honourary uncle.  How about 'Projects with Children' or 'Joint Adult/Child Projects'?
