Yeah, the ECO drill didnt make the cut as its too big for sys1. It will be intergrated into a sys one day.

I have the knockoff Sommerfeld one, it fits in a SYS-2, but barely. I have it in a SYS-3 to get some padding under and above it.

Always like your systainer setups, you should keep a single thread for all of them so I can more easily steal your ideas.  [tongue]

Quick question for either of you... With the Eco Drill, can you replace the 8mm bit with say a 1mm bit?  I have a bunch of doors that I want to get the 35mm hole but still have a ton of hinges that use the small screw hole.  Not the cam action ones.  If I can use a small bit for a pilot hole, I think I am sold on it.

I have yet to perfect the creation of the lid cards. Does anybody offer the paper pre-cut so you could just run it through your printer?

I'm not sure if you can replace it, I've never tried, but the eco drill comes with two little orange clips which restrict the travel of the 8mm bits so tht only their centre tips will cut the stock, which means once you've cut the cup hole you have two marks for screws or piloting. Only likely to be useful if you're using blum hinges though!

If you can find a dealer that stocks them cmt and freud make bits of varying sizes for the mini press which might fit the eco drill. Worth a shot perhaps.

Another option is just to use a small size centering bit in a drill after you've cut the cup hole and put the hinge in it.

you could remove the stock bits and have them sharpened down so they end up as a needlepoint. but i wouldnt bother.

i had a case where a forgot i only needed the 35mm hole, and accidentaly pushed the 8m down a mm and it marked the panel, however the blum screw-on hinge covered it and the screw had a pilot mark, so it all worked out.

As for the systainer, it took me probably 3 hours to do, but its worth putting in the time, knowing everything has a place, and a place for everything.

the lid lable, I removed the OF1400 router lable and spent 30mins measuring the outline which i then outlined in sketchup. this then let me drop pictures of the tools and throw in some company logo's and it gets printed in A3. then use an exacto knife to trim it out and the get it laminated, a quick retrim and it gest screwed and some fastcap doublesided tape to the systainer lid.

seem excesive, but i only plan on doing it once.......... for now, or unless it gets stolen.

Big thumbs up for the ECO Drill. It is pricey , but it just plain works. Easy, fast and portable.

Not really, like I said before, only of any use IF you are using blum hinges, hafele and grass are 2mm closer to the edge so the pilots won't be in the right place. Easier and quicker to use a centering pilot bit once the hinge is in place.

You are right about that, but Hafele also makes drilling jigs for european hinges. We use only Blum hinges so it is a no brainer for us. On the other hand this jig is useful but quite pricey if you only need 35mm hole.

I realize that this thread is several months old, but what kind of foam was used when this insert was created?  I am looking at making a few custom inserts myself.  I have Kaizen foam from Fastcap, but I wonder if this is a better alternative.

If you do a search on amazon for kaizen foam they will also show the multi colored , it's pretty pricey...

Yes mate, i trimmed it down to fit, does not affect the use of the jig
