My brand new Carvex PSC 420 EB with fully charged battery suddenly dies on me!

I'm new to Festools so I hope the problem is connected to my ignorance, not a faulty tool. Here's the problem: I have a brand new Carvex PSC 420 EB. While just starting a project with a fully charged battery (I know it was fully charged because the green LED light on the charger was "flashing quickly" which, according to the manual, means "Battery pack is charged to maximum capacity." So after attaching the anti-static dust extraction hose to the Carvex, and manually turning on my dust extractor, I began to "carve" a piece of 5/8" thick plywood. After around 15 seconds of cutting, my Carvex suddenly died and a continuous beeping (not just 1, 2 or 3 beeps but a continuous beeping) until I pushed against the on/off switch. After waiting a few seconds, I started the Carvex up again but it died again even sooner. Thinking I must have mistakenly put a spent battery in the Carvex I replaced it with another fully charged battery. The same thing happened again. What's more frustrating is after putting both batteries in the charger, the green LED light began to flash quickly just as if the batteries were fully charged! I really don't want to send my brand new Carvex in for repair. It's hard to imagine that I have two faulty brand new batteries (Festool 499848 Lithium Ion 18 Volt 4.2 Ah Battery). HELP!!!
Grumpy in Garland!  ???

It sounds like everything your doing is right as far as battery and charger go.

Just wondering?

Did you check your batteries in another tool to verify the batteries are actually good?
Do you have another charger to check the charge of the battery i.e. getting same green LED flashing fast from another charger?

I've only had one battery related (scratch that two) issues.  One brand now battery was bad which was promptly replaced and then one charger was bad also replaced immeaditaly.

Hope you get it solved

This is a typo in the battery charger manual. The rapid flashing light means the battery is very low and is charging at its maximum rate.

As a new owner of Carvex and especially new to Festool, you should download the Carvex Supplemental Owner's Manual

First, [welcome] to the FOG. Sorry that your first post had to be with a problem.

Rick (the post above this) is an authority on the Festool products and has written many of the supplemental manuals. You DO need to download and read them.

If you have already put your battery on the charger overnight and still have the rapid flashing, you likely have either a bad battery or a bad charger. Since you said both batteries behaved that way, I'd lean toward a bad charger.

You need to contact your dealer to sort things out. If you are within the 30-day purchase window you could exchange your Carvex for a different one. Your local dealer should also be able to help you test it before you leave the store so there will be no more surprises.

Sorry your first experience wasn't great, but it WILL get sorted out and you'll be happy.

Thanks everyone for the rapid response! Rick had the answer I was looking for. I was an English teaching and when I read "Battery pack is fully CHARGED," I took that to mean PAST TENSE not the PROGRESSIVE (charging or is being charged) tense. All cleared up. It was my ignorance. Now that I look at the graphics on the charger itself, it makes sense! Thanks again for all the support. Looking forward to having fun with my Carvex!
