My Festool CT22E dust extractor which has a ball bearing that sounds very bad, and after some time with bad bearings its ended to work completely. I made a video on how i fixt it.

I watched the whole video, and it is very informative for a product that is long past warranty. It does not present any unduly hazardous information. I hope the moderators do not remove this.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.  [welcome]

Great video. How did you manage to fix the burnt wire?

I hope they don't too, I mean, HE knew to take the brushes out BEFORE ripping the motor completely apart  [tongue]  ::)

Wonder if the guy with the $540 CT26 repair estimate could have fixed his with a couple of hours work, an aluminum can and new power cord? Since he let Festool keep it, we will never know.

Let's go dumpster diving at Festools Repair Facility.  [big grin][big grin]

Thanks for sharing the repair.

Curious to know if the electrical problem is related to the socket on the front. There has been comments, in the past, with that one being loose for some users. Have it short out that badly clearly is bad. From the teardown I doubt the bearing shim, if there was a 2nd half, could have caused this.

I think it is because the baring is so loose that the rotor is hitting the stator.
If you look at the film you can see that the rotor hit something

Great video - my CT22 is still running and it is nice to have a home repair video to look at if it needs work.
