My CT22 just stopped working.

I have been using my CT22 this weekend and it was working great with the saw and sanders.  I had a few things to finish up with tonight so I hooked it to my miter saw and turned it to manual mode and it started up for maybe half a second and then stopped.  Clicked the dial back and forth and it didn't turn on again.  I tried the auto setting and that didn't do anything either.  I let it sit for a while and tried it again and same thing, it turns on for half a second and that is it.  Tomorrow is day 30 since I bought it.  Can I bring it back to the store for a new one?  I would hate to have to send it out for a repair and be without it.

The miter saw was just connected to the vac hose and not being powered thorugh the vac.

I would take it back and return it and then purchase new one if the dealer won't just give you a swapped out new one. Way to soon to send in for a repair.

That is what I was thinking.  Hopefully they will just do a trade since I bought it last month with a saw and got the discount.  If they don't swap then I would have to pay full price.  This is assuming that they even have any CT22's left.  They may be sold out and waiting for the new CT26 to come in.

I gave the side of the vac a gentle hit with my hand and it turned on and ran for a while.  I then turned it off and turned it on and saw the same results as before, it would turn on for a moment then turn off.  I hit the side again and it stayed running again.  Has anyone had similar problems with their vac?

I would highly recommend that you call our service department (number below in my signature) if you want to troubleshoot the problem. They are best prepared to answer questions and diagnose problems.  You're welcome to exchange the unit since you're within the 30 day window, however some dealers may be completely out of inventory with the transition to the new models taking place.

If you'd prefer to have us call you, just send me a PM or an email and let me know what would be a convenient time.

Certainly, having to whack the side of it to get it to run is not normal. [big grin]

Thanks,
Shane

Want to give a big thank you and job well done to Festool.  [thumbs up]

I spoke with Festool today about my problem and they said to return it to the store to swap.  They even called the store to make sure they had one in stock and set it aside.  It was frustrating not having the vac working properly but that is all forgotten and replaced with the thoughts of incredible customer support.  Just another reason Festool is great.  I knew they had great products and now I know first hand they have great customer support also.  [thanks]

Great story.  It's heart warming (I'm not trying to be funny!) to hear a manufacturer take those steps to make sure you stay happy and satisfied.

Is the bag full?

Vac will stop if the bag is full? Mine keeps on sucking till the HOSE is full too!

When I first got mine, I found that out too.  All of a sudden the dust collection was really poor when using it with the TS 55.  The dust was coming out by the blade.  I unplugged the saw from the hose and found out the hose was completely plugged all the way to the vac and the bag was like a brick it was packed so tightly.

With the vac, talk to the service dept but if that is not adequate then return it for a new one.

Sometimes I have tap on the side of the old lady to get her back to cooking, does that count? [big grin]

I wish we here in the UK had the 30 day thing!  We dont have anything!  If you used if for a week and it stopped working Repair is what will happen!

Well that's what happened with my drill any way!
