Hi this is my first post and my first large project using Festools! Basically a bookcase to hold 46 large volumes of music, the complete works of Bach I believe. Made from European Oak which was planed down to 25mm from 30mm sawn stock. The bookcase is 2m long, 500mm high inside and 300mm deep and the 300mm boards were made up from 2 or 3 pieces edge jointed using a Domino. The divisions were butt jointed, again with 8mm dominoes and the ends fitted to the top and bottom with a 5mm stopped housing and 8mm dominoes. The housings and front chamfers were made using a 1400 router, the divisions cut to size using a TS55 and therefore requiring no further work and the whole thing sanded using a Rotex 125 and finished using Surfix. Being retired before I got the Festool bug almost all my tools have been secondhand. My first purchase was an ex demo PS400 jigsaw, not the best introduction to Festool, which was been replaced under warranty by Festool with a new PS420. The whole project took me about 60 hours and the finishing, using Surfix, I found much easier than expected, obviously helped by the Syslite highlighting imperfections. The client was very satisfied, as was I,  with the finished result. Now it's back to my other project, the rebuilding of a 1946 MG TC, hopefully three-quarters the way through a two year rebuild. Less use for Festools but the C12 drill has been excellent in the assembly of the ash frame!! Hope the images appear as not showing in 'Preview'

Dude, your retired!  Quite working for clients and get that car DONE!  I want to see pics!  Live the dream. [big grin]

Nice peek at that car indeed. This medicine furniture piece in the first pic is totally awesome! And oh yeah.. Nice job on your shelves!

Really like that shelf.  That's something I'll be needing a lot of very soon.

The MG.  WOW [eek] jealous

You're telling us that's ALL BACH - that's a lot of music!

Welcome to the FOG  [smile]

Thanks for all the positive comments. The 'client' was my younger brother, a professional musician who has done some organ recitals in America, had already waited over 12 months for the bookcase because the MG, my retirement project, was more attractive/interesting to me!! The 'medicine' drawer unit, which is now used to store sheet music, came from a Catholic convent that used to train student nurses and each drawer was their 'locker'. Actually only one drawer locked, the tutors! The MG I have had since 1969 and paid £110 for, in running order, but I started to rebuild it in 1974 but house moves and children rather delayed progress and it became my 'retirement project'. Now restarted the rebuild from scratch in 2011 and aim to finish by this summer in the hope that we get some sun. [big grin]
