My MFT3 Extension

So I just got an mft3 and realized I would need a longer table to crosscut on .This extension is a scrap of 16"x36" mdf I had, I think I might cut it down some( 32"?) as there is a lot of torque applied to the mft crossmember.I didnt want the leg to the ground because I would like to be able to grab the the table and quickly and slide or move it around.I am awaiting the shipment of crossbraces ,and will see what that does for rigidity.(this thing(the whole mft) wobbles around like a $20 card table ! well almost ).The support arm I used was a piece of a cheap cargo load stabilizer bar ,with a split piece of electrical conduit welded on the bottom,and a piece of not yet trimmed rubber inner tube glued in ,also a piece of aluminum angle,with 5/16 carriage bolts. I am planning an MFT height sysport for a more stable setup,but this will work for a portable fix,but I wont try to stand on the end of it,at least not without the bmx stunt pegs. [wink]

Nice! Perfect for supporting off-cuts , etc.

I have been looking around for an adjustable leg light that one and considered cargo bars but have not been able to find cheap ones. Is this something you found online?

I am planning an MFT height sysport for a more stable setup,but this will work for a portable fix,but I wont try to stand on the end of it,at least not without the bmx stunt pegs. [wink]

HaHa!  [big grin]      This is a nice simple setup, great idea.  Also good just to have the extra room for tools and such when using the MFT for work holding/clamping.

     I found them (legs) at a store called Princess Auto,(I thinks its only in Canada?) they sell all types of imported tools , farm grade shop and mechanic equipment,and all types of  surplus crap,I got a few of these on a sale a long time ago, for less than $10.I used some for my router table wings too,they are just not so good as cargo bars .I suppose one could weld a nut on or in a piece of pipe,and use some type of L brackets, or have a fixed bar, and adjust with slotted screw holes (once fixed at the  right length you shouldnt need to adjust it).Im surprised Festool doesnt  have anything for this (maybe they do and I dont know?buy another mft ?),Ive seen the extensions for the older tables.I dont think the UG wings would work that well,at least not for wider pieces,and if you were crosscutting a thin piece, you would use the miter saw ?  Happy hunting ...

I've been looking for something like that for the Kapex extension set on the MFT/Kapex.  With the MFT/Kapex equipped with that type of "outrigger" and some wheels, it could be more easily moved around the room when installing base, crown, etc.  I would also prefer the Kapex a few inches higher.
