My "PowerTainer' build, as submitted for the 2015 Video Contest

Nicely done.  After seeing that, I don't think I will bother making a video for the contest.  I think you have a real chance at winning.  Hope you patented that (not that all of us won't rip off your creation)  Good job!!

Excellent entry into the contest and a really cool creation!! Carrying the Festool design elements into your engineering and execution makes this virtually seamless in the Festool line of tools/systainers. I look forward to getting one when production starts. Perhaps 2016?

Just got up from a snooze and caught up with my reading.

[member=3752]rnt80[/member] - I'm honored that you would want one, but if you think Festool stuff is expensive... [eek]

[member=41832]WastedP[/member] - I labored long and hard to come up with a solution that actually works, and believe me it wasn't easy! It turns out that the placement of the studs is critical to within a millimeter if you want it to be able to hold and charge a battery that has the rubber bumpers on it.

[member=167]neilc[/member] - Thanks for remembering my reputation to 'sweat the small stuff'. See the comment above about fitting the batteries with the rubber bumpers. I have a patent pending on the design.

As I mentioned to rnt80, I'm honored that you would want one. But again, if you think Festool stuff is expensive...

[member=6108]Sean Ackerman[/member] - I appreciate that you're impressed with my narration abilities, but I sincerely hope that's not THE most impressive part of the video? My voice won't win me the grand prize - or any other prize in this contest for that matter.  [wink]

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] - I hope so too, but that's not why I did it. i really wanted the product that I produced and have been thinking about building one for a long time. The contest just gave me an impetus and a deadline...both of which are key elements to getting something done!

[member=2205]teocaf[/member] - There you go, DRONEing on again... [big grin]. I think the James Earl Jones comment is the highest praise I've ever received. I'm honored ... and I accept!

But don't expect a second version. I'm happy with this one, and am not sure what I would do to improve it. That may change after I've used it for a while.

[member=44640]rich024[/member] - Like most things I do, I went 'all-in' on this, but per the rules that's not necessary. You are, of course, too late to submit a video for this year but I really hope that you WILL try to submit one if Festool has a contest next year?

And yes, I have a patent pending on the design.

[member=40422]gray keene[/member] - carrying the Festool design elements into my design was critical to make it work like it does. But don't hold your breath for production to start. Sorry!

Love it! Outstanding job on the whole package....

Love the voice over..... you got another career in you....

[not worthy]

I really like the charger mount.

I did a similar idea for the lid on my Light Kit Systainer

[member=32690]Slartibartfass[/member] - thanks for the compliment. Of course, I already HAD a career using my voice. That was a lifetime ago, though...

[member=5671]jmbfestool[/member] - thanks for the comments. Really appreciate them!

[member=42757]jimmieshear[/member] - Thank you for noticing!

[member=1619]SRSemenza[/member] - I had a real challenge making the charger fit and the mount work.

I also went and read about your Light Kit Systainer. Very nice! Do you still have it? Have you tried to see if you could get it made in a T-LOC Systainer now?

Thanks all for the comments, and keep 'em coming!

Nice video I liked it. I could never do that

Ha ha are we going to see a one time only PowerTainer thread soon

Outstanding!

I esp. like it on top of a CT26.  Because the CT 26 outlet  &%~#@* !!!

I still use the light kit. Probably won't bother to switch to a T-Loc.

Actually, mine is a CT36AC, but I think your point is still valid. The outlets are the same...

So how often do you use it? Once a week? More? Less?

I'm trying to decide if it's something to go on my 'future to-build' list...

So nobody has commented on the nightlight, or my attempt at humor at the end?

I'm SHOCKED!

[eek]

Fantastic job, Wayne, both on the PowerTainer and on the video.  I'm seriously impressed!!!  I am, however, a bit surprised that you didn't integrate a SysLite into the center of the built-in cable winder spool.

[poke]

Great video and concept, Wow!  Question, though:  Are you also the voice of the Jolly Green Giant?  Ho ho ho.

Willy, the video segment pointing to the 20 amp outlets was a nod to you. I'm pleased that you noticed!

I don't own a Syslite but I've handled one, and I can tell you that there is NO room for it in the lid compartment. I suppose one could go down in the base and have the extension cord wrap around it. If Festool or a dealer want to send me one I'll let you know...

Awesome idea, really enjoyed the video.  :)

Thank you! I hope my video inspires you and others to enter next year?

Not as funny a question as you might think. The actual 'Valley of the Jolly Green Giant' is only 30 miles southwest of where I live. I am, unfortunately, NOT the voice though.

The voice behind the Jolly Green Giant’s “Ho, Ho, Ho” in the commercials for General Mills is Elmer Dresslar Jr. He was born on March 25, 1925 and died October 16, 2005 of cancer. He had a long and storied voice career, and also recorded jingles for other famous brands including Amoco, Dinty Moore, Marlboro, and Rice Krispies.

The things you learn on the FOG, huh?

Great job Wayne, you just keep amazing me with your talent

Well, thank you so very much! I am honored.

Amazed might be too strong of a word, but I am tickled that I can still surprise you guys once in a while.

I would HATE to be predictable - or worse yet, BORING...

[scared] [wink] [big grin]
