My version of the MFT sysport cart

I finally had time over the holidays to design and build my version of an MFT/3 sysport cart.  Viewing previous FOG post on similar carts was very helpful and provided quite a bit of inspiration.

The cart is 35/ 3/8 tall (~900mm) and 30 1/2 D x 45 1/2 W which allows for edge clamping of tall or wide boards on all sides. I also bored the corner supports for 5/8" pegs to support such pieces.  It's put together with pocket screws and is extremely sturdy sitting on red 3" locking casters from HD.

In total, I used 1 and 1/2 sheets of 3/4" birch plywood, a couple board feet of 8/4 ambrosia maple for the corners, and edge banding to make it look purdy.  I will eventually build some small drawers for that center area to hold clamps, dogs, tape measures, etc. as well as some in the back area next to the CT26 for whatever.

As you can see, I still have room for a few more systainers.  [smile]

Thanks for looking.

[member=40746]Justin Michael[/member] do your dimensions include the caster height?

[member=40746]Justin Michael[/member] I really like your design, great work! So much so that I'm trying to replicate it for my own use. I know this thread is old and not sure if you're still active on this forum, but..

I see you have used pocket holes for the plywood-to-plywood connections, but would you mind sharing how you attached the legs to the top and bottom pieces? Thanks!

Very nice build [member=40746]Justin Michael[/member] . What type of casters did you use?

Looks like this one Vijay

I have only, recently, learned of the potential danger associated with bungee cords, but I see that it has already been discussed in the this post.  I was wondering, though, whether the danger could be minimized if the hooks on the ends were clamped closed to minimize the possibility of one of them coming off the piece of conduit.  They could either each be made into closed loops that went over the conduit, or they could be connected together, as I do like the overall idea.

On the other hand, I guess pretty much the same thing can be done, albeit safer, using yacht line,  Given that I've been playing with yacht line eye splices, I think that an alternative could be a length of yacht line with an eye at one end sized for the conduit, and an eye at the other end sized for the vacuum hose.
