How are you liking the new bandsaw?  What blade have you found to give you the cleanest rip cuts?

[member=27619]John1102[/member] I love it so far! Still perfecting my dust collection plans..will post about that soon. I've gone through 4 different prototypes.

For blades, I picked 3 up:
3 TPI 1" Woodmaster CT
3 TPI 3/4" Woodmaster CT
10 TPI Laguna Proforce

The Laguna cuts the cleanest, by far. However it does require you to go pretty slow through the cut. Not a problem for me.

The first two blades would be great for re-sawing.

I also picked up a Laguna tension meter.

Hi Matt

I like the idea of the Wixey on the N4400. I may try this out with a spare I have. However, you have it on the opposite side to the fence lock. That will complicate setting the fence up. How do you plan to do this?

Did you not consider using the gauge on side of the fence lock? It may just need to go in upside down if it cannot be used in reverse.

I agree, most definitely. It's harder to view it and move the fence at the same time.

That side of the table already had mounting holes in the right locations, and I didn't want to drill into the street rail that the fence slides on.

It's really a prototype, I can always move it later!

[member=67555]mattbyington[/member] Wixey has a remote sensor & display that I believe will fit your track. Replace the tablesaw readout/sensor and you can leave the track on the rear and mount the display somewhere you can see it.

Matt, as I mentioned, I really liked this idea. I do not know why I did not think of it, because I have a spare Wixey for the table saw ... well, part of one: there was a small section of rail over from a previous installation, and then I replaced the digital box as the original had been damaged (lost the window, which I repaired with film), stopped working (although I later learned how to work around this, and now it seemed fine). In the meantime, the one on the table saw (Hammer K3 slider) looks nice and new

My thought was to build it in using the same method I used for the K3. This is what I came up with ..

The control box is attached with a rare earth magnet, so it can be removed.

The only issue with the gauge is that it attaches here from the left side of the fence, where it is designed to attach from the right (perhaps someone knows how to set this up for the other way around). The result is that the readout reads as a minus.

It sets up easily for zero, and this is important when changing blades.

Below is how it attaches to the Hammer N4400. I made use of the bolts attaching the fence rail. I am sure that other bandsaws will have something similar to use. The L-brackets were cut to length and drilled to suit this set up.

This set up is working very well - accurate to within 0.1mm! (to return to the same setting).

The only issue is that it reads as a minus. I don't know how to get around this.

At the blade ...

Moved back 40mm ...

This is the connection: rare earth magnet epoxied to the gauge, and mild steel epoxied to the fence lock ...

I have a Wixey on my drill press and it does the same thing, reads minus.  I contacted Wixey, Barry Wixey responded that there wasn't a way to change the negative sign.  In the case of the drill press gauge,  he said that down into a hole is negative and up above the work piece is positive.

Would be nice if it was changeable, but overall a small problem.

The drum sander is brand new (Laguna 19-38) but I found that bracket VERY finicky to install... it has to be perfectly square or the electronic unit will "bind"...
