Looks like you could rip one any time now.

I like the looks of that setup. Is the fence on a scale, or do you have to measure each time it is moved?
It ha a scale. I haven't tried the scale on and angle cut yet.

Thanks again Peter - I think champagne has induced dysfunction on my part [embarassed] ... hic!

(but it is Saturday arvo after all)

I don't think that outside "influences" have anything to do with it.  iPhone image perhaps?

I see stuff like this and think back to other threads about trying to sell more Festool in the US and clearly a big help would be to sell the whole product line. Enjoy what is for us the forbidden fruit.

I toyed with getting a Metabo for a little while as I will ultimately (one day when I have space) invest in some real shop gear. When I played with the guides, adjustments, etc of the Metabo and a few other brands and compared it to the refinement of the Festool table, sliding table, rip fence, etc I couldn't go with anything else. You're paying double for the Festool, but I think it'll reward me accordingly.

FWIW, height and angle adjustment on the underslung TS75 isn't too bad and if you really want to do it standing up, you can easily lift the module out.

What is that clear plastic thingy that covers the top of the blade? [wink]

I've seen those before as well, I think the technical term is a Darwinian hand & arm saver, works on the principle of natural selection.

It's ok, if I raise it high enough I can still get plenty of fingers in there [scared]
