Well I was bitten by the festool bug and got the TS75 saw. I now have added the Domino, ETS 150/3, jig saw, and OF 2000 router, the only non-festool I havei s a nilfisk alto vac and a dewalt drill whhich I'm replacing. At first I was like so much $ for tools, but the first time I used the TS75 with the vac I realized it was money well spent. So now I would like to buy either the 15+3 or 12+3 drill, and either the 1010 or 1400 router. I'm a hobbyist So I'm not sure if I need the extra power for both machines and I really like the size factor on the 1010 and 12+3. I'm just thinking that maybe the extra power won't hurt especially for the drill since I can always use the OF 2000 if I need more power than the 1010.

I'd get the 1010 - the 2000 (and 2200) are huge for most routing needs and I take the "smallest, lightest tool for the job" approach. For general routing, I find the  1010 just the perfect size. As for the 15 vs 12 drill, both are so light, with just a few ounces of difference, most opt for the 15v.

Congrats on your first post.  I like Bob's advice.  To me the T15 is pretty much a no brainer since the weight, size and cost are so close between the two models.  The only downside of the 1010 is the fact it doesn't take 1/2" shanks bits.  This is a deal breaker for some guys.  Me, I love the 1010.

Quote spinoff, that sums up the blue and green slippery slope:

Sell the house
Sell the car
Sell the kids
Forget it
There's no going back
Forget it

I just remembered this movie quote today... Fairly accurate.  And never happier with my tools.  [big grin]
(PS: I kept the house, car, and kids.. it can be done!)

*Original quote (modified above): "Apocalypse Now"

have a look at the details that make the of 1400 more user friendly (like the ratcheting mechanism for changing bits)...the power is not the only difference.
i hope festool will make the of 1010 with thoses of 1400 features in the future...

Where you have the OF2000, I'd go with the OF1010 and get a few Festool 8mm bits to go with it.  I went with the OF1010 after seeing both and the OF1010 is about half the size and weight or the OF1400.  To me, that makes it much more useful than another bigger router.  If you later get the LR32 system, the OF1010 is the ideal router for that application.

Wonderwino nailed it.  I have both the 1010 and the 1400 and together they pretty much cover the range of stuff that I (hobbiest mostly) need to do.  I covet the 2200, but honestly can't justify it (though I said that about the Kapex for a few months before I bought mine [laughing]).

The 8mm router bits are amazing.  Much sturdier than 1/4.  Unless you have some 1/2 bits that you really love, I would start with the 1010.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Bob your going to get an order for the 1010. I'm going to wait on the drill cause I hear there is a new version of the C12 coming at the end of the year.

I have a pristine OF 1010 I may sell, make an offer. Just not enough power or treats for me.  :)

iyor,

you cant go wrong with either one on the routers.  just remember the 1010 only takes 1/4 and 8mm bits where the 1400 take all plus 1/2

on the drill, the new ones that are coming out in a few months are excellant.  light attached, belt clip for either side.  the belt clip is on the battery and you can hang it on either side. and the power is awesome.  cant wait to get my hands on my own.

I have the t 15 +3 and it is powerful and great drill to use. and for the few extra bucks the 15 is well worth the investmet.
