Hi Frank-Jan,

Two persons same conclusions.
Let's pray for more Centrotec bits & drills!

Can I join the picket line? I got almost every centrotec bit they have except the Zobo's, paid good money, and I want more of them! Come on Festool, release some more and cash in on fools like me!

I have the Zobo's and they are great.  I also have the Fagmat. Greenlee, and some others but, the Zobo are superior in my limited experience so far.

What is the PCD?

Jack

In my e-mail to Festool Germany I mentioned the following future Centrotec parts:
- flat spade wood drills
- Auger wood drills
- longer brad point wood drills, also in Ø12-16 mm
- ½ mm brad point wood drills
- regular countersinks for wood & steel
- longer masonry drills, also in Ø12-16 mm
- long metric hex bits
- long magnetic bits
- long impact bits

Maybe others can also list their wishes for other Centrotec drills & bits.

It's called the PDC 18/4 and one of the best drill drivers in the Festool range (together with the DRC 18/4) and maybe among other brands. Until now it's NAINA.

The actual batterypack is a bit different, because it has a bumper on it, and the belthook is on the machine instead of the battery, but they will both work on both machines.

Thanks Peter, nice video and a very nice piece of English Oak.  Is the 18.4v battery on the PDC the same as I have on my T-18 drill?

If so, I just may get one of these when the hit our shores.

Jack

The battery is actually an 18 V-4,2 Ah version.
Maybe if these drills hit your shores the battery supplied will be of a higher amperage, f.i. 5 Ah which are already used by Metabo, Hitachi, Bosch and maybe another few brands.

it's going to be new drill time for me too. Would love to get a PDC but festool wont pull their finger out and release it over here. The new Fein's also look pretty darn sweet, they even have a centrotec chuck that works with standard ball detent bits, who would have ever thought?

I don't think both Fein and Metabo have a Centrotec chuck, because it's patented by Festool and far superior to other designs.
I think the removable chucks by Fein and Metabo are a kind of FastFix chucks. No Centrotec!!
They can only hold a normal ball detent bit, but that's what most people use and know of.

The Centrotec system is of another league and only limited by the amount of bits and drills until now.
A few years ago I e-mailed some ideas to Festool Germany how to expand the Centrotec range.
Until now we have not seen any new bits.
It's also a pity that the machine head is not magnetic and the eccentric/angled chucks don't hold the bits and drills that well without the Centrotec Tool chuck. Festool should also improve that parts.
As of right now I owntwo Festool drills and have handled the new Fein drills in store. The connection is identical with the exception of some machining differences to ensure you can't use festool on fein. The fein will not hold centrotec bits however the concept and connection is identical. The only thing stopping me from buying a Fein is that it has no right angle chuck like the festool. I use mine on both drills very frequently, and has now become a "must have feature" for me. beyond that there is nothing superior about the "centrotec" feature ( as in the connection) at all

Bosch now has a new battery and charger that allows you to just set the drill on the charger's flat plate for charging.  You don't even have to remove the battery from the drill.

Bosch Wireless Charging Starter Kit

LOL - "Wireless Charging" ... you could be excused for thinking it was going to be more than a docking capability for a multi terminal battery configuration could you [big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

To my knowledge Metabo is the only company with a series of "FastFix" chucks like Festool has.
But not an eccentric chuck.

When Metabo introduced their drills with the fast fix-like system they had also a centrotec-like head, which looked like it could take regular ball detent- accessories.
But when I saw it in person at a building fair, it turned out it was just a bitholder permanently attached to a centrotec like collar (like a centrotec with only the inner ring working)
So it didn't offer extra functionality over the centrotec with a bitholder. Looks like the fein version is the same.
Hmm, maybe this is the answer to our need for a Centrotec for standard 1/4" drives?  Of course, I'm sure it's NAINA.

That is very cool. I like my Festool drills and I have been happy with my new Bosch drills and impact drivers as well. I agree on the right angle being a must-have attachment. Soooo useful.

In my e-mail to Festool Germany I mentioned the following future Centrotec parts:
- flat spade wood drills I look forward to using my centrotec Zobo bits, but I suppose some flat spade bits to supplement the Zobo's could be an economical way to fill out the space between the Zobos sets 15,20,25,30,35 range..
- Auger wood drills Good idea what sizes?
- longer brad point wood drills, also in Ø12-16 mm is much needed at least to 14mm
- ½ mm brad point wood drills
- regular countersinks for wood & steel I ordered one "reguler countersink" recently
- longer masonry drills, also in Ø12-16 mm I think this could be a useful addition though for me I'm not doing this kind of work at present

- long metric hex bits How long are you talking here?
- long magnetic bits Isn't what the bit holder and the bit extention do?
- long impact bits Don't have an impact drill yet so don't understand the need, explain?

Maybe others can also list their wishes for other Centrotec drills & bits.
