Need help selecting sander

A Mirka Deros fits on a 27mm Festool hose end without modification, it's obviously not made for it but it works well enough that I haven't ever felt the need for a Mirka hose. It's a great sander, I can't really say enough good things about it. I have the kit with the 125mm and 150mm pad. I didn't think I'd use the 125mm much but I did, on the rails and stiles of my panel doors they fit almost perfectly. There are 2mm, 5mm and 8mm orbit versions. I have the 5mm version which I think is the most common. For me, it seems absolutely smooth enough to finish with. I use only Abranet with it (don't forget to use a pad protector!) which I think helps.

For thick layers of old paint, there are faster tools, like a belt sander or an angle grinder. A Rotex similarly will leave deep scratches, if you're worried about veneer. The Mirka is much more powerful than general RO sanders but obviously not as aggressive as a Rotex, belt sander or angle grinder. It sounds like a decent fit for your application, except for corner work. You'd need a Deos for that or possibly an upcoming delta model (Deos is rectangular, great for along edges but obviously doesn't do corners

Floors?

RO150. No debate, close the thread.

I bought my Ro150 from a painter who bought it for ..... floors. After 3 hours he was sick of it and got a floor sander.

No need to close the thread yet.
