Netflix Price hike

Any one else upset about Netflix's new pricing structure? I guess the one good thing is you can try out Hulu-Plus.

What would that be?  I hardly ever watch Netflix, so it wont take much to get me off it.

Looks like Netflix has helped me figure out where to get more money for my woodworking efforts.

We had the one dvd at a time plan that included unlimited streaming for $10 a month.  Under their new pricing structure that same service would cost us $16 a month.  More than likely we'll drop the dvd service and just stick with the streaming.

I'll be dropping netflix all together.  two birds with Amazon prime.  Stream movies and get your festools (and anything else) in 2 days (1 day for 3.99$).

I don't go "out" shopping anymore...

I sort of expected something like this, but it's still irritating. Especially since Netflix has been touting their streaming as an "added bonus" to their subscribers for a while now.

I've never done much streaming, so I'll just stick with the 3 DVD mail plan that  I've had for years. It fits our lifestyle.

I don't have cable and don't have Netflix. But I do have a large group of friends that are very entertaining.  I find that more fun...but that is just me.

What I find fun is inviting my friends over to enjoy some good food and share my collection of movies ... but that's just me.  [smile]

I didn't say I don't have movies did I?  I just don't use NF or cable.. We all have movies DVD and Blueray that we share. One copy might get passed around and viewed by 20 families.  But we all talk politics and life and many more things... TV is not our only social thing and you can live without cable.

If more people did drop cable.... it would be interesting to see what would happen.

And I never said I had cable (in fact, my ONLY TV reception comes in over "rabbit ears"). 

I also don't see where anyone said that TV was their only social thing.

Well, now ya got me.  I've been bragging about how great it is to live at the end of a dirt road in the desert (no power outages, no gutters to clean, no snow to shovel, yadda yadda).

But two things we don't get are really fast internet (fast enough to stream to the tv) and good movies (anything other than shootemup/car chase crud) at the theater.

So I guess I'll drop back to DVD only.  I don't think this is gonna last long though.  Netflix doesn't seem to be investing in many DVDs other than shootemup/car chase crud.  I often get items from my queue moved to "Saved" because they are no longer available on Netflix.  I suspect as older dvds wear out, they will no longer be replaced. 

BTW, Amazon streams in a way that our slow internet can handle.  Prime was always a pretty good deal for me, but with free streaming, its exceptionally good.

I've been a no cable,  no tv guy for quite some time.  Netflix streaming is about the only entertainment I see on a screen and I love it.  Really look forward to it too.

I'm also a prime member on Amazon.com.  How would you guys say the two services compare?  Is the selection on Amazon comparable to NF?  It'd be killer if I can drop my netflix monthly bill!

I looked on Amazon prime as an alternative to Netflix streaming. It looks like Prime a very small sub-set of the main Amazon streaming library. So most of the stuff i wanted to view would still cost to stream per/show.

Do you have any dish internet options? I would not know what I would do without fast internet.

I can do without cable and a group of us found that if we just chip in a few buck and let our retired movie person shop for the sales and deals we have have put together our own bank of movies I have over 800, add the others and we have in the thousands. a couple years aback I converted everyone's VHS tapes to DVD so we all could save space...LOL Some times we get together and put a screen up in the back yard and I bring over my LCD computer projector and we have a grill in.  The modern day version of a drive in.  We hope the kids learn the fun...but we just don't have the backseats to let them have as much fun as we did....LOL
