Festool are replacing the "old" carvex PS400. with a new carvex PS420

Due to heavy wearing in the current Carvex which is the cause of many carvex jigsaws being sent back for repair.

????? Is this true????? I'm not sure!

Festool decided I was right and the Ti15 is crap and they are going to stop making them[tongue] is this true? H E L L yea it is!

They are going to have to contend over here in NA with Bosch's new jigsaw the JS572EL.
As much as I love Festool, im not waiting for the carvex, when bosch's jigsaw comes out in august I will be one of the first to own one.

I have had the Bosch for a few months now  [big grin] after i put the Carvex on Ebay...

Interesting but I may just go for the Bosch or the Mafell.  Once I get rid of my Carvex that is.

JMB, where did you get this info? Or is it just a rumour?

As far as I know it is NOT a rumour.

The front end of the carvex has a wear area which causes the pendulum to fail or something like that.   So apparently they a redesigned it and it will be the  Carvex PS420.

Ill ask again to make sure its not a rumour 2 moro.

Ti15 comment is a rumour though lol  [tongue]

The new bosch looks pretty nice after  watching the videos on it.  I noticed the new Bosch jig saw is coming in a stackable systainer like festool.  Boy oh boy, wonder where that idea came from.  The dust collecting system on the bosch looks familiar too.  Festool is really under attack by Bosch, they're stealing some great ideas.

I sold my 2 yr old Bosch GST 135 when i got my carvex PS400, maybe i was too quick to sell but the Bosch wasn't perfect either.
Every gripe i had with the bosch( inability to cut straight/square or tight curves, warped base from new, awfull dc , heat build up and poor visibility) is improved on my Carvex, but everything i liked about my Bosch ( blower function, rugged simplicity, ergonomics and  mass-power ratio) is inferior on the Carvex.
Bosch has whole range of different jigsaws for each task there is a suited one, Festool tries to cover the whole range of tasks with one and it can't be the best at everything. It's only really good at cutting material under 20mm thick, i cut a 48mm beech slab in half the other say with it; which is one of my frequent uses for it, and i need both hands to stop it from jumping and it vibrates heavily. the Bosch wasn't much better TBH, but vibrated a bit less because of it's mass.

i seem to have none of the problems described so far of the returned Carvex's, i put my gripes simply on bad design and not on a possible mistake, would this new 420 be a redesigned one or just a name change to the current models that have already been improved compared to the first models? Sort of a PR move to get rid of the bad name and rep?

I think it's astonishing that Festool released such a lemon.I mean some of the guys on here that have one are experienced users and they all say it's crap. Are there any professional users that say it's any good?

I thought Festool took time to fine tune their products and only released them when they were perfect......it's a joke!

Any one on here have or used the Mafell P1CC jigsaw.

Looks very impressive on the videos but user experience is always a better judge.

I used the mafell p1cc for a couple of weeks, and i think its
awesome! Lots of power! Straight cuts! Really impressive!!
But, the special blades as very expensive, and not freely available.
Also the jigsaw itself is pretty expensive! So thats why i bought a
Trion.. Also very good, but not as good as the mafell!

I have the mains barrel Carvex and haven't had any issues at all, though it hasn't seen heavy use ... just straights and gentle curves in various thicknesses of ply up to 15mm.

I don't think they will - all Mafell materials they specifically state that the Cunex blades only fit their jig saw.

Though in this picture the blade looks perfectly normal, but it could be double thickness compared to a normal blade for all I know.

At £16 a piece I'm not going to find out by ordering any...
 [eek]

Edit: According to this page it really is 3mm thick which makes it about double thickness to normal blades i.e. won't fit anything else.

i have the mafell p1cc,its the rolls royce of jigsaws in my opinion, the cunex blade will only fit in the mafell and is superb for cutting absolutely square in thick timber, the saw also accepts standard (bosch type) bayonet blades.

I posted last night anybody got a review of the hilti jigsaw barrel body, nobody replied [tongue]
