Finally Festool also understands that you can do more with Centrotec drills!
But why is there a ½" wrench with sockets up to 30 in the set together with Zobo Forstner drills bits?
That type of wrench is normally used for the automotive business.
Here are some better pictures.
BTW: Quite expensive also.

Those augers look good wonder of they're available separately

Looks like a different tape measure too

Mmm, don't really understand the logic behind this kit, guess there must be one.
Just not getting it.
I would only Need the items on the left hand side of both levels, Zobo & auger. Wouldn't need what's on the right hand side and therefor would be paying a premium for it.

Looks  like a decking kit for carriage bolts and so on.  I wonder how good the auger bits are and hopefully they will be available in singles soon.

In the upper right hand corner on the lower level, is that a tape measure? If it is, it certainly is more robust than the current offering.

Only bad thing is it's nearly £400 quid but the zobo bits are £100 alone

If that's the case I'm guessing $1,000 if it ever gets to Oz [eek]

I've wondered before with the centrotec sets why Festool don't make them fully modular with Left and Right base and lift out options, plus attic lid, that way you could mix and match augers, zobo, cabinet / hinge bits, bradpoints, HSS, TCT, socket set etc etc. There could be about a dozen interchangeable modules which would mean almost any combination would take up 1 or at most 2 systainers including attic without carrying what wasn't needed... and it brings the system concept to bear much more fully.

I know a lot of us do this to a degree anyway but it seems Festool are having multiple stabs at this without really hitting the mark.

I got myself the 2015 kit, which is in an attic systainer. I must say I would love to exchange the left drill bit case (which I rarely use) for the zobo tray. The 5mm self centering bit is in in the empty space with my other odd sized drill bits and then I would have everything I needed in 1 systainer.

i have preorder it from my local seller...  i have now 7 diffrent centrotec systainers  [big grin] [embarassed]

are realy the knife, pencils, etc and the awsome ugly measure in this kit or is it only a display for this photo?

EDIT: i got my answer now.  the measure has name  SYS-CE MB , couldent they get a hultafors talmeter or something there instead for that monster? they have already hultafors (MS-5M/Hulta) measure there

Thinking about this I've got to say I'm amazed that Festool haven't taken advantage of the new drawer based Sortainters or the recent cantilever toolbox to deliver a new Centrotec set. I actually think it's very poor to need to take a section out and set it down to reach the stuff underneath. [sad]

Three drawers full of Centrotec stuff would be a little expensive for most people.
The new 2015 HD systainer mentioned above already cost €440 incl. VAT (Germany price).

I hope there will be Sortainers with two and one drawer in the near future.
This new Sortainer also grew from a SYS 3 to a SYS 4.

It is great to see there are finally some new additions to the centrotec range.

What I don't understand is why Festool insists on pushing a socket set together with drill accessories, for me it's a different category.

I was kinda angling towards the idea that something like Centrotec Sortainer drawer modules or inserts for the Cantilever Toolbox would possibly be a better approach.

... and to Alex's point, maybe give your more options in terms of combination selection. I too have more than enough Festool and other sockets, etc. It's also ironic that they seem to want to include sockets in a set they bring out with some frequency and sockets, ratchet drives, etc are the components that won't wear out like most of the other bits!

My thought on the sockets and driver is that with these large auger bits and Zobo bits you may be using some big lag screws, deck building, and this would come in handy.

I agree... the modules could be made in such a way as to be interchangeable across different years and sold independently of the overall case structure so that people could mix and match and replace the parts that they have largely worn out, etc...  that would be nice.

It would probably make too much sense for anyone to actually do it though...  it would start to work almost like a system, and nobody does THAT any more...  ;D
