I have been working on a fluted white oak drawer front for a while and came up with prototype 1. I decided to make a small cabinet, still a work in progress. All is white oak.
Finished with Osmo Raw Polyx-oil.
Cheers.

That is very, very cool.  I am working on a white oak dresser now for my first grand child.  I gave my daughter two choices for fronts being regular frame and panel and solid wood.  She liked the frame/panel version.  Your cabinet is well done.  Any more pictures on the construction/layout of the pieces for that front?

This was going to be my first Rubio project but still up in the air on that.  Using Rubio on the cabinet but I think I need more durability on the top (glued up Peruvian Walnut).  She wanted some contrast so, there's that.

I had to do a search, because I could not recall his name.  George Nakashima made slatted sideboards famous.  His were all vertical and probably easier to layout.  Some were "open" designs and others were applied to a flat surface.  He also made use of a technique that I like to use, through dowels.  No special jigs required.  You can see the through dowels at the bottom of the end panels.

I hide mine with decorative end panels when I make face frame cabinets.  Fast, strong and easy.

JC - very elegant design! If you look at it long enough it's like an eye teaser. Just wondering if it would pop more if there were a divider between the two drawers because the drawers seem to blend into one another (but that might be what you are looking to do)?

JC, that design is really nice.  Makes me wonder how it would look with alternating white/red oak molding?  The subtle differences might be really interesting.  [smile]
