New dust ports and connectors

I highly doubt that Festool cares or that they will do anything about it.
They wont. At least not any time soon. They just got done transitioning all their tools dust port and hose connections to the new connector. Not likely they will recall all those connectors or change them anytime soon.

I only own a TS55 and RO150 that I purchased last year.  They both have the new style connector.

I just assumed this was the normal connection - I never knew or maybe noticed there was an older more preferred design.  I just thought that build up of dust was normal.  I didn't find the little bit of collected dust to be that big of a deal, but I'm only a hack hobbyist who works in the garage.  I might just bang the little bit of dust that collected onto to benchtop and just reach down and turn the CT26 to manual to suck it up.

True, but at the very least, they should sell the old style hose connectors and give everyone options. I’m not sure if I will buy more actual tools from Festool anyway, I’ll buy accessories and consumables. I already have more than enough tools and the new changes to imperial and the crappy dust connection ports are a big negative for me, not to mention the yearly price increase.

Same here. Im very glad I got all the tools I wanted from Festool right before the dust port change happened. From here on out unless a tool breaks Im good with what Ive got.
Now, that aside, they really should continue to make the old dust port accessories available. Especially the hose connectors which I thought I read they discontinued to force people to use the new ones. Which I dont understand as doesnt their "guarantee" state they carry parts for their tools/products for 10 years?

To date I am still using the old style connector from the hose on my CT22.  The sander and the TS55 have the new style, but my Kapfer has the old.  Festool used to provide a new style hose end with the sander I got last week.  But no longer.  As long as they don’t start falling off, I will stick with the old style.

I was thinking of getting one of the new low friction hoses, but ended up putting a cover I bought on Amazon for $12.  A bit more cost effective :-)

The new design is that bad, eh?

I no longer have any CTs and I use a non-Festool hose for all my Festool tools which include the old and new ports. Even though the connection is not as perfect as a Festool hose connection, I don't see any degradation in dust collection.

It’s not THAT big of a deal. Just frustrating because it was quicker, easier and better before.
I’m not going to stop purchasing festools I because of this. But it does stand out as a poor decision.

Just asking a question here.  With all the questions/uncertainty re antistatic v non-antistatic hoses putting the real need for as hoses in question, would the Bosch BS0005 hose work?  It is a 35 mm hose, is non-as, and the hose fittings seem to work just like the older Festool fittings.  I've had a short section of this hose connecting my Kapex and a CT 26 for a few years now with no issues.  The Bosch hose is more flexable than the Festool, seems as durable, AND costs WAAAAAY less.  Just askin'.

I don't see why it wouldn't work just fine for you. However, IF you are also using a cyclone, I would find a way to ground it to protect your CT.

Guess the point I was trying to make was for the those concerned with the new style Festool connectors.  If they can be found, the combined prices for the old style Festool ends are greater than the price of a new 6' Bosch BS0005 which is ready to go/plug in and use.

I don't see how a Festool nozzle is more expensive than an entire hose, and it still leaves you with the dust collecting indents on the tool's dust port.

Got my last one on ebay for less then $25.00 (USD) with free shipping.  Haven't looked recently but the old style hose end pieces were upward of $20.00 each (USD).  I've never had to pay over $35.00 (USD) for one of these Bosch hoses.

I purchased the last 4 old style hose ends that Woodcraft had and paid $23 for each of them this summer.

My experiences over the past few days.

Saturday with RTS400 and new connectors to CT26. Fine ply dust covering the conector as the hose is removed.  [eek]

Today, Monday evening the hose from trusty old CT22 catches on the rail, older conector disengages from TS55 and saw dust sprays everywhere.  [eek] Not the first time [and yes I know there are ways to counter this, but not always practical]. Fortunately I had safety glasses on.

So to those who dislike the new connectors, yes I agree. But let's not hanker for the good old days either.

+1 for me on disliking the new connector...I have a couple of tools with this style and hate it - the sanders are a real pain - maybe the new style would eliminate the dust on the tool end, but so far it makes a mess.

Off topic from dust port to new hose...

Has anyone else noticed a similar dust shower problem on the new braided hoses? Primarily on the end that connects to the CT?

I was routing with the 1010 using the 27mm new braided hose, and after finishing, I removed the 27mm hose to hook up the 36mm hose for vacuuming the floor. Seems that dust was collecting in the groove inside the fitting that connects to the CT. I think it's the new piece that allows the small tool end to connect to the large end for transport?

Other than that I think I like the new braided hose better than the corrugated.. Love the flexibility but nervous about the braids being torn and fraying
