Just found this on you tube , can't wait to get my new one. Apparently they are out April 1st.

Nice, but won't trimming melamine panels like that ruin the blade instantly?

Btw, does anyone use one in the shop? I don't have a portable planer and i am not really missing one, but now that it has a plug-it i could be convinced more easily!

Apart from the plug it and rubber grip what's the difference?

I soooo need a plugit adaptor for my ehl

That's the only feature I'm bothered about, not having a plug it on my old one is a pain sometimes. The only other things I've spotted are a different tail flick down gizmo , new grips and the front has grooves cut in it for grip too.

Can't really see the need to swap my old EHL65 to the new one, but nice that finally after all the whining about the non-plug-it power cable here on FOG someone has actually listened at Festool Engineering and done the facelift and brought the EHL65 back inline with the rest of the system. Now if only they had done away with the rebating depth limit altogether... [tongue]

Seriously though this is the smoothest (no pun intended) hand power planer I've ever used and by the looks of it the new one while having some ergonomics improvements seems to retain the great mechanical qualities of the old design so a good show from Festool.

Funny how they show it with a 27mm hose, blocks every time i use mine with it. Might swap mine as i want the 110v and currently have the 240v

I've got the benchunit for it set up all the time in the shop. It sits in a corner ready for use whenever. Just have to plug the hose in. A 27mm by the way, works fine for me just doing minor trims but for bigger jobs a larger hose would be a must.

They angled the backside more so you can see the end of the sole, and as Joiner mentioned the green flick down knob at the back was redesigned because some complained about it

Weird, I've heard a few people say that but I've had mine running on my midi for years and never had a blockage maybe you're taking a lot off in one hit. I would be taking a maximum of 2mm off in one run down a door for example and it doesn't block.

Yeah Dean I'm guessing it easily handles 4mm on softwood but blocks the pipe. My old elu planer munched through anything ;D very powerful but heavy.

Get your old one on eBay quick mines on now.

Same here I always use the larger hose doesn't block then.

If you plane ply wood on the face no mater how little you set it to remove, it
still Blocks up with the 27mm hose.  So I just stick with the larger hose.

i had a look at one on the 20Th march , the  plug it  section was what i asked for last year  on a visit to tts i guess it must have been in production then, i have been told other new products are out this april but what they are i have no idea , anyone on the forum got any thoughts ? other than the centrotec kit and the deep tote box .

HI JMB  that's what i thought and i did ask that question to the rep needless to say he remained tight lipped .

I would say a festool Ti18 drill could be on the cards.

I think there'd be something new in the Protool space there first, then a follow on with the Festool.
