Well that can be your excuse to your wife every time you buy more tools. I’m doing it for the kids.

You mean the kids don't come in the box?
 
Hahahaha that is brilliant. It still amazes me that with all the tech and other toys we throw at our kids, NOTHING can beat turning an empty box into a spaceship. Funny story tonight I had to go into the shop to get something for my five year old and she sees my wall of systainers and says "daddy those are a lot of boxes" I showed her a sys maxi and told her that is her suitcase for vacation next week [emoji23][emoji1787]
 
No excuses needed for the wife, she's in on it. She gives the honey-do list, I give the tool list. One hand shakes the other. Buying good tools has saved a lot of money overall. Getting kids prepared for shipping is just a bonus.

and what do we generally do in woodworking.. Make some variation of a box

it all comes full circle
 
I thought the episode of _The Woodwright's Shop_ where furniture was classified into two types was on point:

- boxes
- platforms
