New Festool promotion?

The problem is that I can find no way to contact Amazon. There is no email or phone info given. My only recourse is to return the item. That is why I think Festool should begin a dialogue with them and see if a solution is available.

Find your order and check the box. Then choose:

Select an issue: Returns and refunds
Select issue details: Other return or refund issue
Enter a short summary

The buttons will appear below: E-mail, Phone, or Chat.

They're usually great over Chat, so try that first.

Do you have any more details about the Kapex accessories which are part of the promotion? For example, when I click on Kapex accessories on the Festool USA website, it shows various clamps and the Kapex MFT as well as the blades, wheeled stand etc.?

Amazon's price adjustment policy is actually 7 days from date of receipt.

And Amazon will charge you return shipping if you return an item that isn't defective.

Of course it never hurts to ask, but I'd ask sooner than later to weigh your options. I suspect the CSR will most likely say "we don't know our future prices", but in this case they do.

Good luck either way.

There sure seems to be a lot of talk about Amazon here, but in my opinion they are absolutely, hands down the BEST people to deal with for customer service. As an example, I returned an item yesterday using their return form which uses UPS as the carrier. Our UPS driver has not yet picked it up, but I ALREADY HAVE MY REFUND! How do you top that?

Amazon's stated goal is to be the most 'customer focused' retailer - period. I can't image that you will have a problem with them, but occasionally you get a newer person who doesn't yet know all the ropes. If that happens, just ask to speak to a supervisor, politely state your case, and you should be good.

There are a couple of posts in the "Sales and Dealer Area" of the forum, one started by Sean "10% off......" Thread that gives the details.

Here are a list of products included in the promotion. US prices shown. Packages including the Kapex are also included.

I spoke to Amazon, told them about the promotion, and the willingly credited me the the difference in the sale price.  I was very easy and the whole conversation didn't last more than about 5 min and it was done, got the notification of the transaction via email and it was done.

Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about!

[big grin] [thumbs up]

I feel as if my post started the discussion that has dominated the latter part of this thread.

I also contacted Amazon this morning and was gladly given a credit for the difference between the regular and the sales price.

Thanks to Amazon and again to Shane and Sean.

That's nice to hear.

I'm quite surprised the CSR has visibility into future pricing, usually there would be a number of hoops to jump through.

I bought a T18 kit from Amazon just before Festool updated the batteries and dropped the price of the older units by 10%.  Amazon stood behind that promotion too and refunded me the price difference.

so everytime festool runs a promotion, people with complaints come out of the woodwork!
and now amazon made good on discount price they have the kapex today
at the feb 1 price!

some day festool will learn not to run these promos to stop this

Jcp2wood,

I'm sorry you feel that way; hard for me to understand how you can make a disparaging, blanket statement about people you don't know or haven't met.

I personally contacted Festool Monday via this thread and by phone when the rumor came out to try to confirm it. I was willing to wait for a sale. After I was told by 2 different Festool employees that nothing had yet been communicated regarding a Kapex sale, I decided there was no reason to wait as the rumor was probably just that.

Obviously, the information had been communicated to someone prior to then as the rumor was confirmed with an advertisement on Wednesday.  It is likely the Festool employees I communicated with did not know of the sale plans on Monday.

I tried to perform due diligence before ordering the saw. I don't feel as a consumer in this situation that I did anything wrong or unethical.

Amazon gladly refunded the difference and I will buy more Festool products as a result, probably some from Amazon in appreciation for how they handled this situation.

Some would choose to look at this as a win-win for those involved.

Wow that is kinda harsh  [unsure]...

If you follow the agreed upon terms from Amazon and Festool then complying with the return policy is not dishonest. It is not being a cry baby, you are just sticking to what you and the company agreed upon. BUT.... Shane is right if you contact the dealer they will generally work with you, and Amazon really wants to help avoid a needless return so in the rare case like this they want to keep you as a loyal customer and they also want to avoid the open box tool so it is a win-win decision for them. Festool knows a few people are going to fall into this weird 30-day window and they really just want to avoid returning a perfectly good tool just to get the 10% discount, that is a total waste of everybody's time (even the UPS driver's time) so contact the dealer and work it out. Nothing at all wrong with that. If it did not make financial sense for Festool to run this deal then they wouldn't. End of story. However in my case this sale has pushed me off the fence and made me decide to buy a Kapex. I happened to knew about this sale a few weeks ago and so I have waited but I can completely understand if someone bought a new Kapex and now feels they didn't get a fair deal. If paying more than I should for something with my hard earned mony makes me a cry baby, well then I guess I am a cry-baby too  [smile].

so try this question

when apple (everyones aware of them here, since they compare festool to apple)
releases a new iphone and drops the price of the older one, does APPLE GIVE ANYONE
who bought in last 30 days a PRICE CUT? NO.
when apple runs a black friday sale, drops price by 50 bucks on a ipad and you bought
one nov 1, do you think you can go back and try to threaten them with a return or
give me a price break? NO going to WORK!

so if the shoe fits, by my count
i worry about weakening festool as a top niche brand by these people each
time, they cannot get into a 40 pct sale, go to the boards and complain....

When it comes down to it -- if you offer a 30 day return policy (no questions asked) with no restocking fee, etc. then you have to offer a 30-day price match to avoid lots of people returning and re-buying. It's as simple as that, and I think that's the only reason why you're seeing that policy, though it is a nice thing to do.  [smile]

If Apple had a 30 day no questions asked return policy then yea they would be flooded with returns every time they cut prices. Human nature, nothing to get your bun in a wad about. Happens at Costco all the time, and they also simply refund you the difference to spare the cost of an otherwise unnecessary return. It's all part of offering a promo.

Everyone, I think the debate/argument/dialog about returns seems a little unnecessary. Every post that I've read has said that the customer was taken care of. Unless there's a real world example of someone getting the short end of the stick, let's move on. Thanks.

Shane

Can't we all just get along?  Lets hold our Festools up to the sky and in one resounding united voice sing Kumbaya and praise the virtues of our favorite Festool for all to hear.

OH wait,  we already do that,  sorry. [big grin]
