New Festool tools - Fall 2013

Even better is that they're carrying over the Protool VCP vacs. Only in 36L volume though.
But I'm a firm believer the Protool version (no hose garage, but hooks instead) is a much better design for the jobsite than the current Festool CT line.

Totally agree!!   I have never liked the hose carage  I removed mine instantly from the CT22   Which leaves you with a nice flat top and you are still able to attach systainers.    I wish my CTL26 would come off! I have looked at it but wouldn't be any benefit because of the handle sticking up in the middle.

I prefer the protools they are like the old CT22.  I wish I bought the protool version to be honest.

I see they have brought the protool vac into the festool range.  Ummmm might sell my ctl26 and buy that one.......

t-loc on the mini/midi vacs  [big grin] Alan!!! Look!! Told ya!

Nice find Joiner!

Here are pictures of the new CTL Mini/Midi version with integrated T-Loc knob.

Hopefully for many of the Mini/midi owners the top cover is exchangeable with the old versions.

They have even brought the carpentry range over to festool!  Chain Mortiser and chain sword!  Dean you might get your 110v chain sword.

Hopefully some of the tools I wanted so bad in the protool range which where to expensive via bunny bolts might be cheaper in the festool colours?!?!?! Ill pretty much bet on it they will be cheaper.

Shane, has there been any official communication from Festool USA to end users about the situation in Canada related to a few products?

Has there even been any announcement about new versions of the Mini and Midi dust extractors?

I am sure such information will be of comfort to our friends located in Canada.

Sorry that this thread is getting a little off topic.

There has not been an announcement about the introduction of the updated MINI/MIDI in the US/Canada. Nor can I speculate about when the MINI/MIDI might be reintroduced for sale in Canada. At this time, I don't have any information to share in that regard.

As I posted before, any customer who resides in Canada who owns a Festool CT MINI, CT MIDI or RAS 115 sander should call us regarding these tools. A toll-free product return number (toll-free) 1-855-485-2620 (8am-5pm EST),  is available for customer inquiries and return requests.  Please do not return units to your Festool dealer.

From the pictures it looks like the motor housing hasn't changed, so it should be possible to just buy the new hose garage & fit it to an existing mini/midi. The current hose garage for the mini/midi is £32.98 (inc VAT) on ekat, and I would expect the new one to be a similar price.

Given that the existing midis are being sold off really cheap at the moment (less than £200 in some instances), whilst the list price is £360.00 inc VAT, it would be considerably cheaper to buy one now & upgrade the hose garage than to buy the new model. That's assuming that a) the hose garage is the only change (the specs on the new one are identical*); b) they don't start selling the new one at a massive discount.

*the only exception in the specs is the surface area of the filter, which is given as 5000cm2 on the existing, 4600cm2 on the new. Maybe that's the HEPA filter?

Someone mentioned a wish for a drill-press adaptor for the drills. This is from the PDF:

I don't speak German, but it looks like there are 2 fixed versions, one with 320mm travel & one with 460mm, and an adjustable angle one with 460mm travel.

I have been torn between the protool and mafel version for a long time now.    Protool because its cheaper than mafell but the mafell model has this automatic adjustable twist holders so you can stick any bit size in. Unlike the protool ones or soon to be festool have set hole sizes.

@ jonny round boy.. I think the motorhousing of the new ctl mini/mide is different than the old version.. To me it seems the arc of the hose garage is the other way around.. To bad!!

Gr rick

Rick, they look pretty much the same to me. I think they only changed the hose garage part.

Edit: I see the little hole on the back is gone. So some adjustments were made to the grey part too.

Not being funny Alex but they are very much different.

The curve stands out a mile. One goes up the other goes downwards.

You will NOT be able to attach a new hose carage to the old CTL

I'm sure the new one looks taller.

When looking more closely it has a few differences

I agree with RVB

Of course, you're right - I was too busy looking for small differences that I completely missed the obvious!!! [embarassed] [doh]

in the photo to the right the Festool logo is backwards as well as the other printing on the top of the machine.  Does that count?

It's a rare misprint, worth tens of thousands of dollars to collectors.

Or maybe I just flipped the picture to have both vacs face the same direction.  [smile]

I got my money on the first theory.  [wink]

The  rectangular hole at the back of the lower housing is for the screw down, press fit, "clamp" that keeps the power cord in place.  I am guessing its on the other side of the new one since the power receptacle is on the other side.
