BTW I bought a new 1400mm guiderail today, and it had the new transparent splinterstrip... I like it, it's a harder type of rubber, and it has a nice crisp edge when cut, the oldstyle black one always looks a bit frayed. Te new strip doesn't have glue residu on the exposed part, it feels a bit more "slippery" than the oldstyle strip, but it are the foam strips that provide the anti-skid feature.

I notice it looks like Festool are now marketing the specialist ZOBO Forstener drills that its sister company Protool markets. I've used a couple of the larger sizes and they are very accurate thanks to the central spike. Probably more expensive from Festool though...
 
I can't find a picture showing a model with that fourth button in more detail, but I did read a mention of "self cleaning (bags)".
Yes it said "bags" in that description... but it could also mean that there will be models with electro magnetic filtercleaning, and they might have chosen for a seperate button to control it. (Just guessing here, but I think the proper info will become available soon enough ;))

On my search I did find a pdf on a Bulgarian site (I didn't save the link, but I can't read Bulgarian anyway... ;)) That showed a picture with  two airhose couplings located in the plastic square part next to the buttons, to have the vac activate itself when used with airsanders. (This function is already available for the CT's, but now it is integrated in the housing of the vac). (The vac with the aircouplings did not have the fourth button)

As Forrest said, the third knob is for setting the hose diameter on CTM model for european market... but what about the 4th knob ?? Any idea ???

Festool is already well represented in that area, but the concrete grinding stuff etcetera falls under the "protool" brand link to protool vacs The vac that's part of festools drywall sanding system (planex) also has automatic filtercleaning link to planex vac These vacs, like the vacs for a lot of other brands seem to be made for them by nilfisk alto. The new cleantex vacs look like they designed them themselves. (I read a while back that the CT vacs were originally designed by kr?nzle)
 
Who does build those Vacs?

The former CTL 22 and 33 where build by Kr?nzle as Ventos 25 and 35. Those are gone. The current Ventos 20 and 30 match the Festool company branch Protool.

The Festool SRM and SRH 45 do match the Nilfisk (Alto, WAP) 40 series. But the Nilfisk 30 has comparable technical features, but looks very different.

The new CTL 26 and 36 are bigger, while sharing the same price as the CTl 22 and 33. The CTM models are significantly cheaper.
 
I received the printed Belgian version of the flyer in the mail today (in Dutch), looks like the new vacs don't have automatic filtercleaning after all. There's a mention of self cleaning, tear resistant "vlies"filterbags. Those bags deflate when the vac is turned off, this would result in being able to extract 4 times more fine dust and reduce bag consumption. (It sounds like this would give the performance of a vac with automatic filtercleaning, but you can use a bag)

I once bought a box of the "vlies"bags for my CT by accident, they were the old, non-collapsing kind, and I did like the tear resistance, (every once in a while the paper bags will tear before they're full, and I need to thoroughly clean the filters; I thought this was caused, by the "water level checking antenna's", when I repeatedly check if the bag is full yet; but it could also have been caused by sharp debris)
The price for the "vlies" bags wasn't that much higher than the paper bags, but the dealer I visit most often doesn't stock them, or I would have gotten them again.

/edit: I just went to the website, and since it's available starting april (which is now ;D), the specs are on the site. The price is the same as the ctl 22, and it has slightly better suction (3900l/min for the cleantex ctl 26 vs 3800l/min for the CT22).
 
Just out of interest, I have the Festool vac for the Planex, with self cleaning filters and the selector for hose thickness.  When flow rate is reduced it starts beeping - I had to disconnect that after the first job - it drove other people on site crazy - although I couldn't hear it through ear protectors over the noise of the Planex and the vac.  The self cleaning function is now playing up -I haven't had time to take it in and get it repaired so I've just disconnected it and now use paper bags so I don't get the filter dirty.  If using for drywall you have to change the bags too often to be economical, but its currently hooked up to the Kapex.  The M function is obligatory for hazardous dust.
 
Good news for festool users in uk. the new ct26 and all the other exciting goodies cocodou told us about in the french website are now avalible in the uk! the uk website doesn't seem to have been updated yet but my supplier has confirmed he will have stock avalible any day now and authorised dealers have some great deals on with the launch of these new products. in the interest of fair play i have not included my suppliers details as to not give unfair advantage against any fog members who are dealers (we should all support our local shops in these hard times) and my apologises if this is old news, iv'e been away while.
 
Yes, had my copy of 'Festool Facts' drop through the door today, and the CT26 features large on the front page. One little snippet I hadn't seen mentioned before (and apologies if it has, and I missed it) is the option to "...fit additional modules according to your requirements. There is a choice of compressed air module, power socket with continuous current, a power socket with automatic electronic switch-on/shut-off, or connection to the EAA energy box."

So it looks like you can start using your vac as a very expensive extension cord after all.. ;)

Pricing in the UK is up a little on the CTL 22 - ?375 +Vat for the 26 vs ?340 +VAT for the 22 - but not as bad as it might have been.

Sod's law though - I've just picked up a used 22 on eBay, convinced that the 26s wouldn't be available for a while... sigh.

Pete, that's odd, in the Netherlands the CTL22 and the cleantex ctl26 cost exactly the same ((459 euros ex. vat)

(On the website, that is... haven't spotted a cleantex in the stores yet...)
 
the new festool products are already available over here in the uk the 26 lt vac is 40 pounds more than the ctl 22 i didnt know they would be available so soon ive recently bought the ctl 22 how annoying

I'm pretty sure you can sell it again for about the same price you paid for it.
