Are the new fleece bags going to be better suited (than the original bags) to handling things such as drywall dust?  I've read threads where people have said that they use their sanders to handle the finishing work, and there have been comments of concern for the vacuum...

Brian:

I think the concerns about drywall dust are largely, if not all, handled with the new fleece bags.

Festool says that with the paper bags, drywall dust accumulates on the inside forming a sort of cake since they don't change shape once inflated. The new bags deflate each time the unit is shut down so they sort of clean themselves. They are available for all of the current models plus the CT 22 and CT 33.

The fleece bags for the CT 22/33 are simply more heavy duty than the paper bags. They do not offer the same self-cleaning features as the bags for the current model CTs, basically because of a difference in the internals (shape, air flow, etc.).

Thanks, Shane. I stand corrected...

I just examined one of the new, Heavy-Duty bags for the CT 22 and it is VERY different from the bags for the current model dust extractors. The CT 22/33 bags are quite stiff so I would assume that they will not deflate the same way.

Gotcha, so the new bags (in the new vacuums) would work quite well, whereas the new bags in the old vacuums - not so much?

I think they would work fine but I don't know anyone that has tried it. If you were concerned about the potential for "caking", you could always open the hood and poke at the bag periodically.
