Just a quick intro. I'm a drywall finisher in Saskatchewan and found this site while looking for more info on the Planex I just ordered from great west saw here in town. Hopefully I can bring something to this site full of woody people. I don't get along to well with wood myself, just not my thing even though I come from a family of woody people (I often get left out of the conversations at family gatherings, maple this, fir that, and veneer the other thing).
I am trying to weasel in to the finish carpenters market using vinyl trims and drywall layering. I just put up 70' of vinyl crown last week which was my first crack at it and it turned out beautifully. So it is possible that a kapex is in my future, if I get enough work.

Let me say [welcome] to FOG you will find it a great place to be, plenty of advise and great sharing of ideas

Welcome to the FOG  [big grin]

My father was born in Saskatchewan ... in 1924 ! His family moved there from the UK and all moved back to sunny Luton in the 1930's.

Ah Kev, that might explain how you ended up in Australia  [cool]

Oh, welcome Saskataper

Welcome Saskatchewan person.

There was a competition, here on the FOG not so long ago and one of the entries was about the use of the Planex and the guy really made an excellent job of explaining the machine and he gave some really useful tips.

I do not have (or ever hope to have) a planex but you would find it interesting. The only problem is - I can't find the contest entries, they seem to have disappeared.

Peter Halle will probably sort that out and post a link for you here. Peter...PETER....PETER!!!

It must be cold outside at the moment.

A couple weeks after the contest was all wrapped up, the entries were distributed to appropriate areas of the forum. Here is the Planex  contest entry http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-how-to/demonstration-of-plantex-to-remove-textured-ceiling/

Hi Saskataper,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

It would be great to see some pictures of the layered drywall jobs you've done! And be sure to post on your Planex use when you get going with it.

Many thanks for sorting that out - it is a good presentation of the planex.
