New Fuji 2Qt. Pressure pot # 5432?

Has anyone had any experience with a pressure pot setup like what Fuji is offering now? That is, ditching the air compressor and using only a 4 stage turbine to pressurize the pot? I am strongly considering an hvlp purchase, and  considering the scope of work i wish to accomplish with it this almost seems ideal. I plan to spray smaller scale projects of my own such as built-ins etc..  I don't mind the idea of a turbine/ compressed air combo. This just seems like it might be a good starting point for me. Thanks for your thoughts!

I use a 2.5 gallon compressor charged pressure pot. When I get a 2 quart pot it will also be a compressor pot. I feel the advantage to a pressure pot is you can increase pot pressure for heavier fluids. Some times with temperature and viscosity 8-10 pounds is just not enough to get the fluid to the air cap.

The compressor I use is a small Rolair Jc-10 or a Senco PC 1010.

Thanks Tom. You're a valuable resource here. Do you find yourself in many situations where you just wish you had a 2qt. pot at your disposal? Or does the 2.5 gallon serve you well for most situations. I notice QualSpray offers a 1 gallon pot and wonder if this might be a happy medium. Obviously there will always be situations that just warrant using the turbine and cup.

I want to get a 1 gallon pot some day. The 2.5 is so convenient because you can place a 1 gallon can in the pot without having to get the inside of the pot messy.

This is an idea I'll retain for future use.  Good one, Tom!!!

I'm looking at the 1 gallon pot more for field work. The 2.5 is a little bulky, with the power mixer it is heaver than a regular pot.

I think the 2 quart pot is a good idea, for most projects it's just the right amount of paint.
I have not used the Fuji 2 quart pot, but if you want/need the extra capacity and don't want to use a pressure pot then I would give it a try. I am sure it can be converted over to accept compressed air easily enough.
I like a pot like the CATechnologies Bandit that I can sit on the ground and won't tip over rather than hanging on a hook.

After a lot of overthinking as usual, I opted for a Fuji Q4 and a C.A. Tech Bandit along with a few other goodies. I think this will get me headed in the right direction for now. Thanks guys.

You did get the T-70 gun--I hope....

Keep the pot clean, water bournes can cause rust issues.

Get the inserts for the bandit and at least an 8 (I have the 12ft) foot fluid line, otherwise you'll have to move the pot around a lot.

Yea i did order the T70, and a 15' fluid line with the pressure pot. They only had 1/4'' fluid lines in stock though, I'm hoping that's not too small for a 15' line. I did not however order extra liners.. oh well, i'll justify ordering those along with a few extra fluid tip and cap sets in a few weeks... Bank account is looking a little low right now lol

I like the smaller diameter hoses, just easier to handle. You can adjust pot pressure to overcome the restriction if the need arises. I don't think you'll have a problem with what you ordered.

That is the correct size for the CAT. It connects directly to the siphon gun after you remove the pot that comes with it. You will have to alter the gun (block the hose that pressurizes the siphon pot) if you are using the pressure from a compressor.

If you need help, post here and either Tom or I can take you through it.

Actually making something or in this case using your tools to learn and create something makes up for the loss...

Bumping this up as I'm looking at adding a 2qt pressure pot to my 4 stage Fuji/T70.  With the CA Bandit, is there an advantage (or disadvantage) to going with the 50 psi pot vs the regular 15?  Do you find you ever need more than 15 psi for heavy latex paints?

I run a Fuji Q4 and several guns with PPS. I too wanted something to have more paint volume for certain projects. I bought the Graco GX19 hopper airless end of last year. That with the new fine finish low pressure tips is an excellent paint system for latex, no thinning, little overspray, and the hopper holds 1-1/2 gallons. While the cost is more than the Fuji 2 qt add-on, the CA bandit stuff starts to approach the GX19 hopper. Just a an alternative thought.

Thanks, definitely an option worth consideration.

Just to be clear, I have the Fuji PP and it's stamped 50psi MAX on its lid although its fittings are for turbine use.  A simple garden hose cap on one end and a small regulator(3M mini regulator) on the other, you are ready for a air compressor use.

I'm really liking the the Graco Triton.

What are you shooting with it, approx. how many gallons and have you put through it and have you had to do any maintenance other than cleaning?
So many questions, so little time.

About 30 gallons of KA+, clear and pigmented.

Using a 2HP 2 gallon Califorina Air Tool compressor to drive the pump and supply the air cap. So far so good.

At first I did not flush it well enough and got white in my clear, my error.

It's a simple pump that replaces a pot for the most part. Lighter and easier to transport than my pot.

I believe most of the magic is in the gun. I have used just the gun connected to my pot. It worked well in this configuration also. I find the products are laying down better and are holding on vertical surfaces better than with my Fuji set up.

I need to get a few more tips to try with latex.

I also bought a (barley) used 395 AAA, not happy with its performance with clears. I need more time with it to figure the unit out (and a shorter hose set, more tips). Work stuff keeps getting n the way of figuring stuff out time.

Thanks. Without your initial post I would have never realized that there were two different types of airless systems (piston and diaphragm) and the pros and cons of both. The Graco literature is pretty good.

Hmm, interesting. I would have thought that would not have worked. What pressure did you have the pressure pot set to?

Yes, I have had issues with runs and drips on vertical surfaces when using my Fuji on a pressure pot.

Yes I am familiar with this phenomenon, it is however good problem to have.
Thanks again for the update.
