Do you need to replace the clear splintergard (guide strip for cuts) when swapping out Festool blades on your saw? Specifically, I am thinking of using a rip blade on my TS55, but don't want to have to buy redundant guide rails.

You dont have to but a different blade especially new ones take a little more of the splinter guard and so if you want splinter free cuts you will have to buy new strips!
I was working with my mate and his rail was next to me and mine was on the other side of the room I decided to use his not thinking lol! When he came to use it with his saw the splinter guard was shy from his blade haahaa lol! OOPS!
