Hi Guys, My names Brendon and Figured it was time to join FOG as ive been a long time lurker! Im a hobbiest wood worker by night and a Audio Video Custom installer by day :) I currently own a Kapex,TS 55,ETS125,Soon to be owner of OF2200,ETS150, CT26 and a CTmini for the workvan :)  lately ive been calculating the time wasted on projects running back and forth to the van and rummaging through my tool bag trying to find a tool that sunk to the bottom and the amount of time waisted was staggering. So I decided to do something about it! :)

There are alot of duplicates in this one, doing this allowed me to clear out 75% of the tools that dont get used

This one is the SYS MINI. Ill be moving all of my little gadgets and gizmos to these, things like IR learners TDR's lablers etc and leave them neatly stacked in there own area of the van.

tools pulled out so you can see the "missing" areas

Parts Sys Bin. I will be ordering more of the red size, they are a nice size and hold a surprising amount of parts. Ive owned alot of parts bins from harbor trash to "good" Stanley ones and no matter how carful you are parts still wonder to other parts areas, Not with this :) Right now this is set up with the bare essentials and you can see its running a bit low :) also cut some foam to for my termination tools, didnt turn out well so ill redo it after i do the drill bin

My drill Sys, this also will get the kaizen foam treatment! two chargers, milwaukee M12 set and Makita drill/impact driver kit along with drill bits, impact bits and a slew of other drill bits. I cannot wait to get this one orginized!

Ive become completely obsessed! i plan on ordering two or 3 a month to slowly convert my van! I just wish festool made a Sys6 so i can fit my Bosch rotary hammer/drill. Its slightly too tall to even fit in sys5 at an angle  [unsure]

Very Nice.  I also do a lot of datacomm installations.  Not to discredit the systainer system, but you might want to look at supplementing it with something like a veto pro pac.  The layout of the multi-tiered pockets is amazing for organization, and it holds an amazing amount.  I use the XXL for my kit.

Here is the tiered side of the bag.  all the tools have their own slot, screwdrivers/nut drivers are 2 to a pocket.

Here is the open back of the bag

And here is a picture of whats actually in there

Also, Welcome to the FOG!!

There are also some new-to-the-market VETO bags that are geared toward service pro's...

There's the main bag, the TECH-LC:

[attachthumb=#1]

Then there are two additional, smaller meter bags that can clip on the any normal VETO bag or your belt, etc.

The MB is a closed top Meter Bag

[attachthumb=#2]

or the TP3, which is an open top Meter Bag

[attachthumb=#3]

I think that combined with Systainers, they are the ultimate solution for a service pro.

[welcome] to FOG! I like what you did there! I'd love to that extra sustainers for my hand tools. I've got two Stanley tool boxes full and they are a nightmare to find anything in

welcome to the fog
im on the fence with this kind of set up
i love systainers for larger tools  but hate them for smaller tools like screw drivers etc.
for my electrical tools i have a cheap bag version of the one  DKurzweil posted but with no flaps to cover the tools.

look forward to seing the rest of you van come togheter

I've never been a fan if bags for tools. Anyone I have ever seen one with has them so full of crap that they weigh a ton and ur arm falls off carrying them around the place  [mad]

In that case you need to either watch what you put in and take only one you need, or have a main bag of most used tools, and supplemental bags for specific tasks.

A well organized and thought out bag should not weigh that much.

Daniel

im with you john. i hate the bags too  for some jobs.
they are great for a specific task but thats it.
i have my electrical tools in one  so that is all ever goes in to it.
i have been using another larger bag for the last month or two on a site i was on for putting day to day tools in (get them out of the van and carry them around all day then put back) but that never happens .
my bag weighed a ton and was fulll of screws, etc from hanging doors  etc mostly rubish.

i do like the bag for attic work . put all your tape and light,  cordless etc in there and bring it around with you

Thanks Guys! The whole reason for moving over to the systainers is to keep me organized. Ive had every tool bag on the face of the earth (except for Veto) and i still fall into the same problem, a tool gets quickly thrown into the bag and sinks to the bottom then when i need it ive got to dig through it. Doing it this way keeps me well organized and using the bare essentials. These three systainers get me through 95% of the work I do (mostly retrofit) I have my old tool bag for the other tools that i need 5% of the time.

The whole reason for moving over to the systainers was actally because i was going to purchase a VETO Propac and stoped my self because my van is a total disaster and aside from being a totally amaizing/awesome bag what about it is different that is going to keep ME organized for $50 bucks more I have three awesome systainers and a mini for my toner!. Ive also left my share of tools in the field because they simply didnt make it back into the case, The foam allows me to see whats missing!

Im going to be purchasing a sys4 and the tool insert for the other 5% of the tools that didnt make it into my main sys! Ill update this as i slowly move my van/company to systainers!

Here is the type of work I do www.sigsv.com

its all horses for couarses.
what works perfectly for me could fail miserably for someone else.
there is merit to both systems.
you do tend to have to root around in the bottom of th ebag for that tool that has gone astray.
keep the pics coming

Welcome to FOG!! [thumbs up]

T-locs make life so easy.. yours are looking really neat! I'd love some foam but its not easily available over here [mad]

I've got the Veto XL bag ( Don't have the muscles to lift the XXL) I think its fantastic!! I've had it for 3 years know and theres no way I could go back to a box. I agree that bags are crap but the VETO is like comparing a rip saw to the TS!!

Ethafoam is the same as kaizen foam and is easily available in the UK , I get mine from easyfoam.co.uk .you can get it in various sizes/thicknesses and its cheap . I have posted some pics on other threads if your interested (makita / non festool in tloc and sds in systainers) hope this helps , Dave

welcome brendon, thats my sons name too, we dont see it spelled with the "o" very often so i had to comment, welcome, looks great organized that way!

Here is my sys tool box and my sys drill case.
I am not sure who though tools should be in a bag but they must have been high.

As a side not, I wish festool gave you the option of a taller sys when you bought a tool. May that would leave a little room for some accessories on the case.
I have an MFK700. I love the router, but I wish it had a spot for a few bits.

It is very uncommon to see another spelled with an O!  [laughing]

WHOOOOHOOO!!! I hit the Festool Motherload for christmas :D

I got the CT26 Dust extractor for the garage (ill be getting the CT-MIDI for the van next month) RO150 random orbit sander/rotary and an accessory kit for the vacuum. I also Got an empty mini-sys, sys2 and a 4-sortainer. I also got the makita hackzall for the m12 kit and already placed them in the sys2! (ignore the horrible kitchen/floor. were remodeling the kitchen as we speak and ripping out the carpet/linoleum)

Merry Christmas!  [big grin]

Thanks for sharing......I'm going to be putting more tools in systainers as well.  Although I do have the Occidental Doctors Bag which I really like....check it out:

Like Festools when you bring the "Doctor" in clients are really impresses.  It shows a level of professionalism thats not common in my area.

Update!

Since it was the end of the year i needed to buy some stuff to get on 2012 taxes. Here is part of what i bought!I have to say my HTC8x has probably the worst Picture quality i have seen since the motorola razr. Pretty bad, only dislike i have with my phone. My vacuum on the van previously took up alot of room, this vac is so small and fits on my shelfs perfectly. Its only slightly wider then a Sys5!

small portable and i can attach my systainers to the top! This is insanely powerful and Hepa Certified so clients with allergies to dust dont need to leave their home while we work, We recently had two sitiuations over the holidays where the clients wife and kids were so alergic to dust that can be stired up they had to leave the house for a few days. I have also noticed with my current shop vac and "hepa filter" when i use my rotary hammer dust still finds it way out which i find unacceptable.

power Cord is 25 feet 12ga also the hose garage!

WP_20130104_006_zps744a4e3e.jpg

Auto on function, When I plug a tool into the vacuum as soon as i turn it on the vacuum comes on! works great for my Rotary Hammer and Fein Tool! this is also why the cord is 12ga

Tradesmen Cleaning Kit. Larger 36mm hose so it doesnt clog cleaning up large wood chips on a pre-wire

All the accessories that fits in the bottom of a sys5
WP_20130104_010_zps760ab686.jpg

handle, wand and floor tool put together, not to many contractors vacuum customers floors in the room they were working in! ive been bringing my home Dyson mini rechargeable to clients home vacuuming the floor that we've been working in, they are completely and utterly shocked that i do this. This nozzle is carpet/hardwood. If i roll the little green lever it lowers the soft bristles so it doest mare the floor. The vacuum is so powerful i need to turn it down just so i can move it around the floor!

WP_20130104_011_zps27030a5f.jpg

Everything rolled up and put away!
WP_20130104_012_zps2b5954af.jpg

All of my systainers, With the sys5 on top it makes it top heavy but i can now roll just about every tool i need to/from the jobsite and carry the trademen kit since its really light. Works awesome in the city, had a job today in the highest end building in philly and they let me roll right on in up the main elevator, i also had to park a few blocks away. What usually takes me 4 trips i did in 1!!! Also normally i dont need all of these systainers for a job so the stack is much smaller. Just wanted to take a picture of them all on top.

Sortainer on the bottom! I only had to go back to my van once and thats because I forgot to put a part in the sortainer.

Its crazy that you can get so excited over a vacuum but this has just become one of my favorite tools, Well worth the rather steep investment. But client presentation is everything, Including the clean up which is where i think alot of contractors lack and where bad impressions are made. Back when i was younger we had a plumber come in, did a nice job but all my mom could say is how "dirty" he was and left a mess for us to clean up. Also realestate in the van is a premium for this vacuum to be so powerful and clean for the amount of space it takes up makes the investment for me also a no brainer

Next update will be a before and after in my van :)
