New guy here.  I'm Pete, and I just bought my first Festool, a Domino  (sounds like an AA Confession).  Anyhow, I'm excited to learn how to use it, and my wife is excited she will get her dining chairs finally.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Bob Marino.  I ordered my Domino yesterday morning and it it arrived today at 1300!  Cool thing for you SW Ohio woodworkers is it drop shipped out of Sharonville, so SW OH + Marino = FAST!

Last thing is it was wrapped so well, I think I myself would have survuved shipment in the box.  I'm hoping this works but here is a photo of the roughly 10-12 FEET that each Systainer was wrapped in, plus the box was filled the rest of the way with those little plastic air pillows.

Well done Bob Marino!  Thank you.

PS - Everything inside the boxes was in perfect shape as well,

Pete Peel

Welcome to the FOG Pete, I'm sure you will have a blast using the Domino as its a fantastic tool.

Pete,

[welcome]

Good luck with your new toy.  I think all of us that have them think they are one of the great tools.

As far as Bob Marino, he is terrific.  Not only is he great to do business with but he is unselfish in sharing his knowledge and expertise with everyone.  I think you will find many other dealers and corporate personnel who post to this forum to be equally interested in the users of Festool products.

Of course, there are all us users who are more than willing to share with other users.

P. S. One thing you might want to do is to update your profile with a bit more information, especially your location.  I know you have provided it in the body of this post but going forward this is very helpful when others want respond to you.

Welcome!  Make sure you use a vacuum with that thing.  Unlike biscuit joiners and doweling, chip collection is a must.

Prepare to suffer the lime fever!  The Domino was my first tool middle of last year... I now count 12 systainers in my shop...

Dunno if you saw them on Bob's website, but he has a "Tips" section.  There are some great write-ups in there for various tools, including the Domino.  It's an astounding machine.

Did you get the pins or flip-tabs version?

Pete,
[welcome] [welcome] to the Forum.  Have fun with the Domino!  I don't know about your wife, but I know many women who love to play with bubble wrap popping the bubbles!  If yours does, she can have fun for quite some time.

Peter

Hi Pete,

Great to see you on the FOG. I'm really interested to hear about your first impressions of the Domino as I'm toying with buying one myself as my next purchase.

Look forward to more posts from you!

Rick  :)

So far I grabbed what i had.  I took two pieces of pine and scribed a line across them and ran the tool..... perfect!

i'm excited to try the chairs... they are Stickley style and I'm buying my wood from Frank Miller (which supplies Stickley),  I'm a new wood worker, but I think Ill try to document my attempt at building chairs.  One of my problems is  that the stretchers are 3/4" by 3/4".  As I look at the 4mm I wonder if they are too close to the size of the stretchers...?

Also,  being honest... my wife looked at my post header and said it should have been, "New guy, Same old tool..."

Good to see you have have a sense of humor too. Are you making Morris chairs? I'd love to see you start a thread about your build.
